He has everything we need to get the program back to being competitive and implementing a coaching search, and subsequent transition, upon his retirement.

Nope!!! He is a Hall of Fame coach, and justifiably so. That said, the lack of discipline, lazy recruiting, and general complacency of his last few years is what ultimately led to the current state of the program. He hasn't regained a stronger work ethic, sense of discipline or attention to detail over the past 4 yrs. You could argue he never had the last two anyway.... Time to move forward, period.

I know it would look stupid for us to hire him back but in all honestly I think that Hamilton made a stupid move by firing him in the first place. You go back and look at his record and out of 16 years he had 2 loosing season, take out those two his lowes win total was 8 wins. He averaged out 6 sec wins for his tenure. I think we all have just gotten to greedy after he won the NC and even he got lazy on recruiting some. I would welcome him back.

You think that the fanbase us divided now? Make that move and the fanbase drops 70% overnight.

Fulmer would do one thing, divide the Vol Nation more. That would be a terrible move.
