Hart to Fulmer..."Say Coach, I know Hamilton and the fans kicked you to the curb cause the program remained in steady decline over the past decade of your tenure here...and that recruiting slid into the gutter. In fact, you were competing with Big East teams for recruits.

But hey, we don't have anywhere else to go. Would you like to come back so we can relive this mess all over again? What do you say...? After all, nobody else wanted to hire the big orange pumkin since you got run out of here."

This is the sound of stupidity. Let it sink in, real good, OP.

I have ripped Fulmer as hard or harder than anybody on here for the way he finished at UT. But, is there any chance he could pull a Bill Snyder and be the man to rebuild the program? I think Snyder is much older than Fulmer.

I would prefer a younger guy like Gruden, but let's say that no proven coach is interested. Could a reenergized Fulmer recreate the 90s magic? Keep Graham and bring Tee home as position coaches? With two good coordinators, who knows? I'm willing to consider all options at this abysmal state we are in.

Do you have some inside information that he is a done deal? If not, and he says no, then what?

I personally do not. The people who do have been around awhile, do not speculate or lookfor e-cred, and have good grammar. Some are no longer members here.

But a few you can start with are LittleDTO, OldVol, and JayVols.

From Gruden's side of the decision: Montrell Hardy.

They are among the most solid posters here.

Think he would consider KY? I heard the first stirrings today from a friend of a friend who has a friend....kinda thing.

I have the utmost respect for Coach Fulmer but this not smart. We might as well start a thread about extracting some of Gen Neyland's DNA and making a clone coach.

He has everything we need to get the program back to being competitive and implementing a coaching search, and subsequent transition, upon his retirement.

I agree that Fulmer would be a great choice for an interim coach. With him as interim, the AD could take his time and hire Dooley's replacement anytime. Fulmer would be motivated to recruit well, get quality assistants, and WIN before his retirement. We could certainly do worse (Coiner, Cheney, etc...)...
