Fulmer Picking Up Steam/Schools looking at Fulmer?(merged)

I know I enjoyed watching us get rolled in 2002 at home by an Alabama team that was on probation and coached by Doofus Franchione.

11 and 4. Bring up the 4 losses and forget the 11 wins. Does that work in your life too?

Phil Fulmer and his family would love Minnesota...and he already has the built-in insulation for cold weather. I spent over a year there (way north) and it does get a bit chilly. He's already packed.

I think it would be a good fit for him and Minnesota both. He'd do a good job and his family would love being there. He could do as well as any Minnesota coach in recent years.

It'd be interesting to see who he was able to hire.

Yeah, I really enjoyed watching Tennessee struggle with Alabama teams that shouldn't have even been in the ball game.

I also really enjoyed Rammer Jammer ringing in my ears in our own damn stadium.

How about Neyland covered in crimson?

Fulmer is never going to out-recruit Jim Tressel or Rich Rod for coveted Ohio prospects.

It doesn't even matter anyways. No BCS level program is going to take a chance on him. Even some of the more established FCS schools probably aren't going to hire him either.

His only chance to coach again in FBS is at a Sun Belt or Conference USA program. I don't see anybody else really wanting him.

Glen Mason kept Minnesota hanging around not by out-recruiting Ohio prospects, but by picking up the guys who were good enough to play but not highly-touted enough for the big boys. There was one year where 3/4 of the teams in the Columbus City League had someone committed to Minnesota, and all were starting for the Gophers within a very short period of time.

The Northern Plains area (Iowa, Minnesota, the Dakotas, Wisconsin, Nebraska) is pretty barren as it relates to top football talent or even second-level talent. Mason had connections all over Ohio, which Fulmer does not.

I was hoping bosgap would come rolling up in the thunderbird and clear those bastages out.

Maybe they'll cower in the presence of the Legendary Left Nut this weekend.

Yes! They just built a huge new stadium and have very nice facilities now. They just fired their coach after less than 3 years on the job and have publicly said they are willing to spend the money on a big name coach. What more should they do?
Hire a good coach.
