Fulmer Replacement

Jeff Fisher. I'm sticking to my hypothesis that since the Titans drafted Young that Fisher won't last through the rebuilding years in Nashville and that Mike Hamilton will go to the pro ranks to get the next HC, Jon Gruden would please me just fine.

The problem with that, is that I don't think Jeff Fisher will have a really hard time finding another HC job in the NFL. He's pretty well-respected around the league. I'm sure there are several teams hoping he'll become available. Brian Billick in Baltimore might be on a short leash if the Ravens do poorly this year. It would be cool to see McNair and Fisher reunite, on one of the Titans' biggest rivals, no less. In short, I don't know where he'll be if he leaves the Titans, but I'm pretty sure it'll be at the helm of another NFL team.

Fisher can walk right out of Nashville into another NFl job, no question, simply based on the job he did manning the helm as the titans/oilers moved to Nashville. plus, the nfl is cyclical and the owners know that even if the fans do not.

If Fulmer were to step down, who would you want to replace him?

Butch Davis seems like a pretty viable candidate

replace him with rexvol

If you care more about the staff and the past than you do about the number of W's we post this year you are not a friend of UT football and you should strongly consider changing your team allegiance so the rest of us can get on with the business of competing for championships.

a lot of us can agree that there needs to be a replacement

A lot? No, not even close.

I would say at most 20% of VN posters want a new coach RIGHT NOW.

I think 20% never want a new coach.

I think the other 60% would want a new one if 2006 sucks.

I am going to amend that just a litte:

20% never want a new coach.

60% want a new coach is 2006 sucks.

20% are willing to keep Fulmer around if UT wins 10 games in 2006.

You people really think we're gonna pay an NFL head coaching salary?

One of the main reasons guys like Carrol and Groh came to the college ranks was because they had worn out their welcome in the NFL.

Fair enough, I like that.
