Fulmer Returns!!!

"I had the opportunity to speak to the kids and tried to reiterate a little bit of that and what they represent, the great payers and things that have been here that have been so really special to this place."

Come on Phil! What are you trying to do to us? haha, great place for a typo UTsports.com

I agree that this one is pretty darn funny. That said, UTsports.com has had tons of typos lately (just about every article has them). I realize this is a problem online that a lot of websites deal with (I have trouble catching my own until after I hit 'post' and often I just leave them be because it's online). However, UTsports.com isn't like you or me posting on a message board where posts are more akin to speech than formal writing. It's a formal site.

The fact that these occur so often on a formal university website makes it a bit embarrassing. And I say anything goes with regular posters -- screw grammar.

Maybe the interns need to get paid more... :)

I'm OCD on spelling and grammar. I will correct it if I catch it even after posting.

I used to be like that too with my own posts. Then I realized I was spending wayyy too much time on a single post. It took me a while but I eventually taught myself to let it go. Ok, I somewhat did. :)

There was no reason to pull the trigger in 2005. One losing season in 14 years? Imagine what any prospective coach would have said in interviews. "So you fired a coach for one losing season in 14 years? What does that mean if I have a losing season year 1?"

There were no reasons to fire him after 05. Especially after midseason when he fired Sanders. He made the moves he had too and rebounded quiet well. Now 2008, is a different story and I don't care to dive into that.

The key would have been convincing Fulmer to do it. Of course he wouldn't have because at that point he put himself before the program. The truth is, most saw the fire in Fulmer extinguish after 2001, but he was too proud to admit it. The best thing would have been for Fulmer to step aside and "assist" in the search for his replacement.

Look, I don't want to Fulmer bash. For his playing days and his coaching throughout the '90's, he has my everlasting appreciation and respect. But he tried to stay longer than he should have. Extreme competitors are like that, but the program took a hit because of it.

How can he be both in the same post?

Awesome! Always liked Coach Fulmer despite all the hatred towards him by our own.

I don't think most who wanted him gone hated him. The frustration was others could not separate the coach from the team. Coach Fulmer himself could not separate himself from the team. A coach is a coach. He's there to teach and to lead. When he starts to lose that edge, his days of coaching are over. Fulmer never understood that. He loved UT(still loves), but he loved UT so much he couldn't see the harm he was doing. He was not a bad man, just a man who couldn't see past his blinders.

How can he be both in the same post?

It's a state of mind. His heart was not completely in it anymore, but his mindset was never walk away. The heart and the brain often deliver conflicting messages.

All this kumbaya sh-t is somewhat tiresome.

The man didn't walk on water and had his faults just like Majors had his faults.

Unable to beat Florida or hire a capable OC after his crutch left in Cutcliffe, Fulmer wasn't the end all, be all of head coaches.

Just like Fulmer said UT is just bricks and mortar to him after his firing, Fulmer will be just another football coach to me.

I agree. Message board is one thing, but on some official site it doesn't bode well for me. I see it far too often in news reports and official state websites. The age of technology with no true human eye spell check. Have to get it up and done now. Because everyone wants it now.
