I can give you 5 reasons: No Shawn Bryson, no Al Wilson, no Jeff Hall, no Peerless Price, no Jermaine Copeland. You just don't readily replace those guys with someone equal or better. 1999 showed how important they were in 1998.

I completely agree. I just think we had no business losing to Florida and Arkansas that year and I think we would've beat Bama in the SECCG.

A quarterback is only as good as his supporting cast. Clausen sucked SOOO bad, he's the second best QB in UT history. And the best road winning percentage. Yeah, so awful.

The 95 team went 11-1 with their only loss being at UF to a great Gator team. They beat a very good UGA team early in the year and then pretty much destroyed everyone else including a 41-14 win over Bama in Birmingham. Ended that year with a win over an Ohio State team (10-1 going into the game) that had the Heisman Trophy winner, the Bilitnikoff winner, the Outland Trophy winner, and the Butkus award winner.

I'll go with the 95 and 98 teams but really the 2nd spot could go to 97 or 99 just as easily.

Anyone who thinks the 01 team is as good as any of those teams from 95-99 and/or that Clausen (who was a good QB) should even be mentioned in the same breath as Manning is probably in their 20s and didn't really see the teams from the mid to late 90s.

Clausen was good but I'd take Manning, Martin, Shuler, Holloway, and even Bobby Scott over him.

How? I'm just curious. His stats and the way he played the game are behind only Manning. Holloway and Shuler were both great athletes and all, no denying that, but I'd still say Clausen was a better quarterback.

Putting Clausen in the same category with those guys is meant to be a great compliment and I appreciate all that Clausen did at UT.

Holloway and Shuler were the two most athletic guys to ever play QB at UT and they made a lot of plays that others could not make. Putting them ahead of Clausen is no knock on Casey, just a preference.

I've seen all of the QBs at UT back to Dewey Warren. CC is in the discussion for sure.

Right! It seems like they blew out most of their opponents that year, too. Solid team that got rolling after UF.
