That’s my understanding as well.
Bryce Young, in the Heisman House Toyota commercials, DOES have on the Alabama logo but those commercials also have the ESPN logo, who I'm assuming has a deal with the NCAA because all those guys are wearing logos.

I suppose that means the schools are getting a payday, so if Nico IS in ads with the UT logo, UT is getting paid too.

Or they just have to approve its use? You would think the schools would prefer to be paid though.

The schools can't do anything about the logo if he simply purchased a licensed clothing item, then wore it to filming.

I don’t believe that to be true. They could go after the company using their logo in their advertising. I’m no lawyer though.

The bottom half of athletic departments are not going to be able to afford to operate in this scenario therefore, pushing athletics out the door. The higher the liability costs go less teams will be available to compete.

I can still see the day when those players who did not participate in the NFL lawsuits concerning CTE come after the colleges for the same purpose.

Check out

Check out every photo of Nico, he’s always in UT gear!

I was talking about ads not photos.

I went and looked: Tennessee law allows the institution to prohibit the use of their intellectual property by the athlete. Basically the school has to approve the use of logos and such in NIL related advertising.

If he just shows up to film in UT gear without approval (as posted by another poster), he would be in violation of the law and subject to potential consequences.
