Well if we are not winning, then they won't come offering. Can't have both. Just means we are successful.

To get the second most minutes on the team? Richardson was playing just as well defensively IMO, let him have the experience and reduce Tatum's minutes.

True. Tatum still did have a few 17-20 point games, something Richardson didn't provide.

I think they were both about equal, but Tatum had more offense so I'd say that had an impact.

How do you figure?

After 1 year he was already drawing interest, you think if he has a good year he won't draw more interest?

Where did you read that coach martin received interest from other teams.....I googled it and could not find a single article stating that.

Well...it was reported Illinois was interested, although nothing official was released, articles were written saying he was on their list.

He was on Missouri's list as well and was said to be the leading candidate behind Matt painter. That's why Tennessee acted quickly, if they waited its very possible he'd be at Mizzou.

So Mizzou had high interest while he was at Missouri state, you add another good year this year to his resume, and you think his stock won't increase?

The only articles I remember seeing or could find now said that coach Zo was very interested in Illinois not the other way around which I don't necessarily believe but that would talk against most peoples positions that he loves it here.

One thing I have learned is never to believe is rumored coaches lists or gruden would be coaching the football team lol......I think right as of today he was a better hire at Missouri state bc the financial risk was low but now there is a pretty big buy out and the salary will have to be increased to lure him away....Obviously if he wins big this yr this conversation will have merit but if we are NIT bound, then most people will be questioning whether we want him as our coach or not, let alone him leaving.

It's the offseason and I'm sure this has been touched on before but I was curious what everyone else thought.

Tennessee was Martins first big time coaching gig (I'm assuming he was never offered at another school that wasn't a mid major?) and this is all a business so what schools do you see Martin jumping ship for? He seems like a high character guy so unless it's massive amounts of money, he stays put but is Purdue pretty much the only other school he has ties with? I would imagine it would be very difficult to turn that one down.[/QUO
If Zo opens up that Memphis pipeline Hart won't let him go anywhere. Plus he loves East Tn as well as his family. His family gets treated with tons of respect in the community.

But to be fair in regards to Tatum, I think you have to look at the circumstances. Your two best players just bounced (Harris and Hopson), you have a young PG that looked shell shocked anytime he seen the courrt the previous year, a couple of HS kids that you needed to break in for depth, a great HS prospect transfering in that hadn't shown anything before coming to campus, and two senior players (one who rode the bench mostly and another one that started). IMO, best move to make early on. Tatum was a vet guy who had the potential to be a very good player. I think Martin stayed with Tatum so long because he really needed a leader. I'm guessing he was pretty vocal in the locker room and if you noticed any kind of scuffles that broke out on the court, Tatum was usually there to keep his guys back. IMO, he wasn't comfortable in that role. I remember last year (with Bruce) we needed him to step up in a couple of situations and he folded. I think he tried like crazy and could have carried the team on his back with his skill but maybe the pressure made him go MIA so many times. Then later in the season, it seemed like he was trying to force it. Sucky way to end your career but I liked Tatum.

I understand Purdue is his alma mater. But I can't see how anyone would want to go back there. It's in the middle of no where Indiana. It's closer to Chicago which is a huge help in recruiting. But that's the only advantage I think it has.
