Future of Florida

I think he will leave on his own. He has the look of someone not enjoying what he is doing. I think he will go to the NFL where it is more about the Xs and Os and not about recruiting.

I hope they sign Uncle Eddie to a 10-year extension.

With the talent in that in-state high school system, they are a sleeping giant.

This is a football site. I'm not publishing a paper here. When I do, I'll watch my grammer.
I hope this is some weird attempt at satire because the word is definitely grammar, not grammer.

As for Florida’s future, others have said it, but it’s worth repeating. It doesn’t matter. Since the divisional split, we have a winning record against one Florida coach: Ron Zook. That still required favorable officiating. Otherwise, even Zook would have a winning record against Tennessee. Muschamp lost to a team that couldn’t complete a pass and still beat us. Tennessee just forgets how to play football when we face Florida.

The future of Florida is definitely worrisome.

Rising sea levels. Poor building codes that lead to sprawl. A dying Everglades that's now also filled with invasive species. The best player they have ever produced, Tom Petty, has died, and their "next man up" is that bald surfer whose name nobody can remember (and who spends all his time in Hawaii).

Not looking good for Florida.

The Florida mojo is overhyped. I think it’s mostly a matter of Spurrier and then Meyer outcoaching Phil (not to mention Meyer had some generationally good teams there) and then us promptly entering our worst stretch in history. Florida has been down as well, but not down like we have.

Agree. My biggest fear is that UF finds a Kirby Smart type head coach who is totally locked in on recruiting the Jax/Orlando/Tampa/Sarasota area and pulls all of the top talent from that radius.

Rumors are Mullen has his eyes on the NFL.
I was going to say the same thing . I think he’s tired of the college game and the things that go along w/ being a college head coach, particularly in a pressure cooker of a town of Gainesville. Not saying that big time NFL jobs aren‘t pressure cookers, but I think Mullen believes he‘s the smartest guy in the room in the South and he’s above the local Southern press.

Mullen will be a consistent 8-4 coach at Florida. That's the average. I have said it from day one and will continue to preach it until I am proven otherwise. But, Mullen to the NFL, with any hope of being successful, is about the most laughable thing I have heard this football season.

Despite their victory over us this year, uf seems to be falling apart. I used to think Mullen easily returns next year, but now, I'm not so sure. He says some really dumb things to the press and his team is undisciplined and they seem to not care about the rest of the season. If Mullen stays for next season, we might be his last game at uf because I think we handle them at home next year. I’m sure they will be breaking in a new d coordinator and Heup will abuse that defense. I’m saying we win by 20+.

So, with Mullen on his way out in the next 12 months, we would obviously like for them to get a coaching juggernaut like Pruitt, but even they aren’t that dumb. Who are some reasonable coaches that uf would be looking at, and which one of those would be most beneficial to UT?
I see that you wanted to strike first so you would be the author of the first ludicrous thread about Florida football 2022.

A gator fan told me recently they are glad the UT game is early every season because the Vols never seem to have "it" figured out at that point. He said Florida would probably not win if they played us now. So frustrating.

I think they fire the defensive staff and bring Mullen back for another year. If they don't improve significantly they'll move on.

We also have to play them in the Gainesville heat and humidity but they never have to come north when it’s cold.

The writing is on the wall for Mullen. I hope they do keep him next year, yes I know we haven't beaten him. But it just delays the inevitable. Puts CJH ahead by 2 years on whoever they do hire eventually
