I think it's been shown that Florida isn't the job everyone thinks it is. I know, I know, "all that instate talent!" But instate talent is an overrated factor. They have to share that talent with a lot of other programs. And a lot of programs have more to sell...better facilities, better fans, perhaps better NIL deals.
Think about it, the only two Florida coaches who've had success are Spurrier and Meyer...two of the greatest coaches who ever lived. Muschamp was supposed to be a great hire. He flopped. Mullen took Mississippi State to a #1 ranking. If he doesn't succeed there, that's a pretty strong indictment.
That said, the best thing for Tennessee would be someone who does just well enough to hang around, but not get fired. Someone like Mullen. Although I'm not sure who the hot names on their board would be if they were to fire him. Fickell, perhaps?
