'20 GA ATH Arik Gilbert (LSU commit)

Won't believe until the real insider @vol4092 confirms.

Also not sure why Jesse posted that this early with the WR coming later unless there are a lot of updates.
I believe what Jesse said is correct for now. I was told earlier probably not. Arik talked like it was a good possibility at the Corky Kell 7v7. I’m sure Tennessee won’t give up until the very end and I know for certain that Harrison is hammering down to try to get him up there since Rakim is in town. I’ve been out of service at a 7v7 since I sent the Rakim news out earlier. So I came back to a lot of notifications. But finally getting caught up. I think he (Arik) is likely ready to focus on making his decision instead of taking more visits.

Nope. Where do you think Gilbert ends up?
That’s a tough one. Like the majority I think that it is a Tennessee-UGA battle. The timeline being moved up surprises me a bit. I thought he was going to look at what Georgia did with a new OC&TE coach and how Tennessee used the TE under Chaney. I think in the long run Tennessee has the better relationships here. Kirby may be the head coach he has the best relationship with but Tennessee has had Niedermeyer and Chaney in this one for a while. Tee Martin has now joined the fray according Gilbert. Not to mention Tennessee has Bailey and Keyton on board already and possibly Ojulari in the future. Right now I think Tennessee has the lead. Another important part of this is the dead period coming up. Obviously no face time with coaches so Bailey is going to be the one person Recruiting him in person for a month. Another thing interesting is that Georgia is actively recruiting multiple top rated tight ends because they are likely taking two at the position. Whereas Tennessee is recruiting two, him and Darnell Washington. Not to say Gilbert would shy away from competition because he wouldn’t, but I do not think that is something that helps Georgia either. All of this is mostly opinion I know, but I feel like whoever has the lead it’s likely 51-49.

When do you think he commits? End of next month?

OD? or Legit?

UT isn’t recruiting him to play TE! They want him at WR!!!!!
Yes, for a while they did. According to Arik last Friday they are going with him at tight end but still talk about receiver from time to time. Arik has been pretty adamant that he wants to play tight end at the college level, and I doubt the Tennessee staff is going to lose this recruiting battle because they are stuck on trying to put him at one position before he ever gets to campus. But yes at one point they were trying to get him to come and play receiver. Likely with the hopes of trying to land Darnell Washington and him.

Dude I guess you would know this kid better than me because you have talked to him a couple of times. To be honest you guys are just shooting in the wind with all these reports!

Wait, SECKING said they were telling him he could play WR even though they knew they were going to play him at TE (because that's what you do in recruiting), and that he would not want to be a TE in Chaney's offense because of how bad he used them at GA. You're saying he wants to play TE? So all that other was just how GA fans think it is happening?

I didn’t say I knew him better than anybody. I would love to know him as much as I do several other recruits in fact. I simply said what I was told. Regardless of what school he plays for at the college level he is going to play tight end and flex to receiver at times. He’s too talented and too much of a mismatch not to. He will be used just like Gronk if an OC is smart. Tennessee simply isn’t recruiting him to play just at WR anymore. They may “want” him there but they are not going to be able to recruit him that way and win the battle. You said you made his travel plans so I guess you know from his time at G-Day that his focus during the game pretty much revolved around production from the tight end spot.

No I didnt say I made his travel plans😂. I wouldn’t usually say anything but some of this info isn’t good at all but heck carry on it keeps me reading!

Sry to hear that and prays for your family. I do all the travel arrangements for the young man and nothing has been scheduled as of yet. Maybe he might be but he is last minute for everything.

He is going to flex in and out regardless of where he ends up. He is a mismatch for various defenders. He wants to focus on being a tight end. That’s where he would play in the NFL. Not that 40 times mean everything or anything but Gronk runs in the high 4.6 range whereas Gilbert runs a 4.83. He isn’t going to play receiver in the NFL imo. Not sure what SECKING’s take is on that. I wasn’t aware he was a Georgia fan, shows how much I pay attention. I know UGA fans were displeased with Chaney’s use of the TE. I do not know how much that would hurt Tennessee even if Georgia was negatively recruiting it. It’s just as simple for Tennessee to say that Kirby wouldn’t let him open the system up with the tight ends, and they are bringing Harrison Bailey In so that they can open it up more for tight ends. I mean for example Riley Ridley (UGA’s leading receiver yardage wise in 2018) had 559 yards. In 2012, TE Mychal Rivera had 562 yards on 7 less receptions. You can negative recruit things all day long.

Have fun chasing your tails like a bunch of dogs. I don’t know nothing just like f’n with you guys. GTFO.🤟🏿

And I was talking a bout HB in sentence🤪
You make all of Harrison’s travel plans? Because the next day after I said that Arik would likely visit, Harrison told 247 that he thought Arik was probably going to be at Tennessee this weekend. You’ve lost me lol. I like the back and forth, but I only say what I am directly told by recruits, so I don’t know what else to tell you.
