'17 GA ATH DeAngelo Gibbs

He referred to Reed as a brother and said they grew up together.

Referring to brother or not..I know the story. With the talent Smart is pulling this class I don't think Reed ever hits the field. I'm going on the potential of Warrior and Gibbs as starting safeties or starters period as cousins. regardless we need to show him what he can be a part of next week:hi:

What all did he say?

"I’ve been to some other big games, but this is probably one of the biggest games I’ve probably been to,” Gibbs said. “I was at the Georgia game last year. … But this was kind of a little bit more because they hadn’t beaten Florida, I guess, here in 11 years. I can see why everybody was excited for this win.”

“He said Tennessee is the place to be, and he loves it,” Gibbs said of Warrior. “Every day they’re working hard. They’ve been preparing him to get better. He’s got to recognize some of the plays better, get to know their system a little bit better. He loves it. He’s telling me, ‘Come up here.’ But, like I say in every interview, if it’s not for me, it’s not for me.

“He understands that. He wants me to just keep coming up here, keep showing me around and showing me a good time.”

Another of Gibbs’ cousins, cornerback J.R. Reed, transferred from Tulsa to Georgia this summer.

“Georgia having J.R., it helps them a lot,” Gibbs said. “He can’t play this year, but in practice he’s a great player, and everybody’s saying he’ll be on the field when he has the ability and time to.

“As far as me and him, we’re very close. We talk almost every day. He’s like my brother. He came from Texas, and we used to work out all the time. We grew up together, (about) the same age. He’s just like my brother. He’s enjoying the environment, as well.”

Sounds like to me he likes Tennessee's environment better. The only reason Georgia is in serious consideration because of his cousin Reed going there. Hope he realizes that Tennessee is in better shape as far as winning championships goes.

Yep the question is whats more important playing with your cousin at uga or truly going where you want to. I still think connection takes him to uga

But, like I say in every interview, if it’s not for me, it’s not for me.

I think this part tells us all we need to know when speaking of TN.

He's closer in age to Warrior than Reed. That statement makes no sense whatsoever. I doubt he sniffs the field at UGA, but whatever they are telling him.

It sure looked like it was for him in January but it's whatever. I'd like to have him but beat them on the field and make him second guess for 4 years. We will be ok.

You guys are missing the point. He's very close with Reed. Doesn't matter if Reed plays. They will still be at the same school together.

No ones missing the point. If anything people are making the point that he would actually play longer with Nigel and probably a better team and definitely a better D. Like I said beat them and we don't have to worry anyway.

Yeah, you still don't get it. He isn't thinking about it the way you and others are. He wants to play with Reed and go to school with him. Him and Nigel aren't as close. Beating them won't change his view.

Lol you have a pretty big hard on for this situation don't you? I'm sure most wouldn't make a decision like this over a cousin even if you see him as a brother...I have a cousin who I view the same but wouldn't make a life choice because of him. I factor in Nigel because he is the better player and will have an opportunity to make more plays at UT imo. To each their own though.

Why do you think we were trying to get Reed? It was a huge deal. Since then Georgia has had all the momentum. Read between the lines.

Sure teams pull the family angle all the time, but if he would like to play with the one who is less talented who he just happens to be closer with so be it. Like I said I would never make a decision based on that. Also, like I said, beat them four years in a row and it doesn't matter anyway. I don't need a sub to tell me that:hi:

All these people applying their logic to the situation and saying this will happen or that will happen crack me up. You really don't understand the decision making process of 17-18 year olds. Your logic does not apply in some situations. The good news, we are finally in a situation where not getting 1 certain recruit is not devastating. Relax. Enjoy.

If it was as simple as him wanting to play with Reed he would've committed to UGA by now. He is still trying to figure out where he wants to go us having a big game against Georgia can only help.

I've wondered about that too. If Reed was the deal closer, why hasn't he committed yet? I have to think that at the very least, there are other factors under consideration here and there is still some indecision on his part and Tennessee has a shot.

People putting stock into who wins the on field games in these recruiting battles... Well, they don't know much about recruiting.

And it doesn't matter which cousin is the better "player". Complete non factor...
