'24 GA ATH Kamron Mikell (Colorado commit)

Georgia trending for 4 star receiver who decommitted from NC State.... HUM............ Maybe Georgia is not sure about Mikell

AP, on the rocky top rewind, suggesting the Kam Mickell has no experience at WR and how fans who think he's going to come in and help at receiver right away are mistaken kind of feels like the VQ guys are starting to gently let us down here. I might be reading too much into it, but thats what it felt like.

Could be, seems like they get us convinced then when they are clearly about to commit elsewhere, walk it back somehow. I hope we have been steady enough to withstand. Raw talent, that other elite programs want, is a good thing.

That's just AP way saying he doesn't know where he is going.

So, I'm very confused. Are we totally out and he's going to play "WR" at UGA. Or is it down to Colorado and us? Do we have a legit shot?

Think AP was just saying he's not quite as plug and play as Staley and Matthews are since they've been playing WR longer. Apparently, Kam is still learning the position but imo he still has great potential there. It's not like he'd have to step up immediately upon arriving on campus anyways.

That’s the way I took it. He made it sound like Mikell is very raw and not going to be an immediate impact guy. Which is fine imo. I think they may hit the portal for a WR anyway.

There will be very few instant impact freshman WRs in this offense period. They usually have 2-3 route options on every play, and must be on the same page as the QB for it to work. They also have to know the playbook enough to not need substitutions during a drive.

I can’t think of an immediate impact freshman WR we’ve had in a while. Squirrel didn’t do much, at least not till later in the season. Hyatt wasn’t that great until his junior season. Maybe DaRick or Justin Hunter were the last ones? Guess we really shouldn’t be expecting much from any freshmen, WR or other positions either.

I'm expecting Mike Matthews to break that trend. He's got everything it takes to be an instant impact freshman WR here.

So Georgia surprisingly has 4 WRs over 300 yards receiving on the season.

Tennessee has Squirrel White at 557, and Keyton at 412. UGA's leading receiver is TE Bowers at 527.

UGA has about 2,900 yards passing. UT has 2,100..
It's not as stark a comparison as we would like it to be. UGA is throwing the ball around pretty well, and getting many people involved.

Yep and Beck doesn't take many sacks and is efficient with the football.I think his passer rating is 72%..The one spot they seem to struggle some at is 3rd down but they've converted 10 or so 4th downs..Im sure someone else can dive deeper on that but the offense they run is effective..

Yeah I think they pass around 56% of the time now.

I think he starts as one of the first WRs off the bench. Either way you need an X from the portal imo. Can’t be just Webb for next year. Then you got Thornton at Z and Squirrel in the slot. Mike can play slot and Z so that should help. Also gotta see how much inside run they give Thornton next year

You have Nimrod at Z as well. IMO, Leacock has to become a viable option at X. I agree that they will have to go to the portal for depth or a potential starter. Matthews and Staley are both great prospects, but depth that's ready to play is a major concern. We can only hope for major leaps from those currently on the roster. We will be inexperienced at nearly every offensive position from a 2 deep standpoint. This is assuming there is no Bru or Jabari on the roster. Matthews would have to get up to speed quickly in the slot.

Nimrod is best suited as a slot, Thornton is an outside guy. I bet Bru comes back.

Kam Mikell has announced his decision date for November 23rd, and this one continues to feel very much up in the air. Tennessee has been a constant in this one which is something working in the Vols favor, but Georgia remains a threat, and Colorado is firmly in the picture. He plans to be back in Knoxville next weekend, just five days before his commitment, so the Vols should get the final swing here, but this one could go either way, by our estimation.

Kam Mikell is hoping to be back in town this weekend as he continues to work toward announcing a commitment on November 23rd. Mikell did reach out to us on Thursday and let us know that he is battling the flu but will play in his game tomorrow night. How he feels on Saturday morning will determine if he makes it in.
This is one that will come down to the wire, in our opinion. If there is a leader in this one right now, Mikell is not tipping his hand very much. He has reiterated this will be an important visit for him, then he will go back home and sit down with his family to decide which school fits him best. We spoke to some people close to him this week and while Colorado isn’t out of it, the distance is weighing on him. Georgia feels good about the ground they have made up but they didn’t know as of late Thursday as to what he is going to do.
Tennessee has been a constant and checked all of his boxes academically. While the Bulldogs pose the most serious threat to the Vols, in our estimation. The more we talk to people, it doesn't appear the late switch to recruiting him as a receiver is something holding the home-state team down in this recruitment currently.
