‘23 GA CB Branden Strozier (Clemson commit)

VOLS IMPRESSING CB TARGET FROM GEORGIA

Tennessee again made a strong impression on cornerback Branden Strozier of St. Francis High School in Alpharetta, Ga., during his latest trip to Knoxville on March 26, which allowed him to attend the Vols’ first spring practice in pads. He picked up an offer from Tennessee on Jan. 22 while attending its first junior day of the year, and sources close to his recruitment believe the Vols now have some momentum with him coming off his latest trip to Knoxville. Clemson and Alabama are widely believed to be the other top contenders for him.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Strozier said after his recent visit with the Vols that he was planning to wait until late May or June to make his college decision. He at least has discussed the possibility of taking an official visit to Clemson in June. But Tennessee has positioned itself well with Strozier after hosting him twice in a little more than two months and has continued to make him a priority in recent weeks.

The more I think of it we should be taking about 6-7 a year given you now play with 6 dbs for most of the game.

I’ve not looked at the actual number per class but it feels like we’ve averaged around 3 dbs a year

Especially with how important the star position is in Banks’s defense

Our best O Linemen in the past 15 years came under Dooley
Yeah, James Stone, Jawuan James, Zach Fulton, Tiny Richardson, and Alex Bullard was the best OL we had had since the Fulmer days.

BUT, Dooley will be remembered for going a year without recruiting a single OL,which you just cannot do. He had an interview with Clay Travis a few years ago explaining why he did (it was honestly a really good interview), but it should still never happen.

Also, Kiffin signed Fulton, James, and Stone.

Not Stone. Wouldn’t even consider us while Kiffin was HC.

That’s right…I was thinking he was one of the EEs that Kiffin got and Ed O tried to talk into not enrolling. But he committed closer to signing day after DD had been hired.

Funny thing was, the way DD salvaged that class, we thought he’d be a great recruiter. Turns out, he was the worst in my lifetime. But Tennessee tends to sell itself, as evidenced by DD landing that top 15 class.

I was impressed from his intro PC throughout his first season. There was promise. Then it plunged the next season and he really shouldn’t have been retained for a third…tho I argued otherwise.
