I don't think that's the case. You see these interviews with recruits and the majority of them acknowledge TN as an elite SEC football program. Obviously some don't but the same thing was said about Alabama before Saban got there. They were going through a worst decade than us with probation, carousel of Coach's, including one who never coached a game.I remember the media saying Ala may never catch up with TN or Fla again. We see how that played out. Penn St, Fla St, USC, Texas and Miami have gone through similar things too. With the way scholarships are now, it's spreading the rich's around and evening the playing field. With the right coaching it shouldn't take long to get out of bad times. It's changing and leveling the playing field in college football.

I don't disagree with you. Any true Tennessee fan understands the program's history and what it's capable of. But from a national perspective, I don't think Tennessee is viewed as a top tier program. It's no secret that winning would change that pretty fast. I just hope Pruitt is the man. Because if he's not, I'm afraid we might not ever really be among the elite again.

I agree with you, especially on the national perspective and the damn media. But I will say Butch got us atleast in the conversation that things were looking up and in less than a year he managed to F any good he did up. I think in this situation we have a staff full of respected Coach's that get the job done. Neither Dooley nor Butch came even close to that. Biggest unknown is can he do it as a HC. I believe he can and will. Getting to a bowl will help jumpstart us in the right direction and a really good recruiting class will make the perception even better. I can't wait to see how this year plays out. Haven't been this excited in a long time.

jordan huff made news over the weekend with his decommitment from michigan state. Huff visited tennessee twice in june, including camping in front of the staff to earn an offer. He’s long (6-1.5) and can run — two qualities pruitt certainly covets at the cb spot. Notably, huff plans to be back at tennessee at the end of the month around all of ut’s commits and fellow targets.

Hopefully we have a weekend at the end of the month where we have 4 or 5 booms. I know a lot of people want to decide before there season starts. Maybe we can get Crouch, Huff, Bogle, Knox, and the lineman from IMG to pull the trigger.

He said he’s already planning to make the trip to Tennessee again the weekend of July 28 and spend “a night or two” there, and he doesn’t have any other visits “planned at the moment.”

“Before this little break — like, before July 4 to about now — I haven’t been talking to them that much. But, before that, we were talking about every day,” Huff said. “They just keep pushing Tennessee. They don’t try to persuade me any way. They just keep telling me how good of a school it is.

“They’re just telling me that they’re real eager to know what he has right now at defensive back, with the guys he has now. He said he just doesn’t know how good they are right now. But there’s an opportunity to play.”

Could be just my orange tinted glasses, but isn’t Pruitt saying “we don’t know what we have right now” better than when he was saying “we aren’t very good right now” a couple months ago? I could be reading too much into it.
