'21 GA CB Nyland Green (UGA commit)

Seems like Georgia is taking the place of Florida in the biggest rival in the east. Growing up in the 90s it was always Florida
GA has always been a better rivalry game. for the most part, it's been way more competitive than the FL series, not sure what the longest streak is total, but we dominated them in the 90's, i think we won 9 or 10 in a row before losing in 01.

since then, GA has had the upper hand, but we've still been able to sneak around and grab a couple games to at least keep the series interesting, and one that's relatively relevant in both fan bases' minds.

i doubt most folks associated with UGA that are 30 or younger hate TN like some might that in a bit older demographic, but i think they all know they haven't "owned" this series like they think they probably should have in recent years.

UGA is one program, that we've always been able to pull big upsets against.....

that, if nothing else, should at least keep one eye on the game for GA fans....lol.

for us, we're kinda playing with house money again. sure, we'lre gonna be a trendy upset pick this week...and i'm sure that will drive some GA fans nuts. but i'll bet that when it's time to come down to brass tacks, the vast majority will still pick UGA, UGA will be a pretty heavy favorite.......rightfully so....and the key word is still UPSET. it still implies UGA is/should be the better team....so it is what it is.

and as good as our 2016 team was/should have been, i think this team is actually a bit better in the areas that really matter in SEC play. i'll put it this way, if we're hanging around late in a one score game, there's enough recent history to have UGA fans biting their nails again.....rightfully so.

With the recruiting base UGA has they should be dominant in most head to heads. However Georgia is always going to Georgia.😁

Agreed there! Especially for them not to have won a national title in 40 years...All that talent year in and year out.

Between the coaching mishaps and the talent flat out quitting they got exactly what they deserve.

When in reality with the location they’re in and the access to any talent nationally they should be the Bama of the East. At the very least they should have more SEC Championships.

It's weird to me that he'd actually let the outcome of the game potentially determine his decision. Georgia is heavily favored so I feel like us winning would be a surprise and not the other way around. If he is as good of a kid as reports suggest, I can't imagine he makes a 3-4 year decision based on a heavily-favored team beating us.

Yeah sounds like some fake news if you ask me

I said it a couple of days ago in this thread. Mims will be paying attention to his position group above all else. If it is strictly a business decision, the game outcome will not be as important as what the O line looks like.

I think we have the better O line. Hopefully I'm right and it shows Saturday.

I think it’s more about how the teams play and respond than who actually wins. If we get blown out and guys are turning on each other or moping around the sidelines, you can’t blame the kid for considering that. If we lose, but the guys play hard all game and keep their heads up, I don’t think that will be an issue.

I just can't imagine/fathom how one game could truly move the needle on choosing one school vs another
It won't matter in the least. Notice that 247 released articles with the same story lines for Mims, Mondon and Nyland Green. They have to write about something to try to get clicks. This is the story of the week. The Vols are playing Georgia, and there are several recruits that are likely picking between those 2 schools.

Pretty sure I've witnessed a GA fan getting escorted out in handcuffs every single game I've been to. That's how you can tell if the rivalry is good.

I was at the games in 07 and 09. In 07 an older mullet haired Georgia fan got hauled off after throwing a drink on a middle/high school aged kid. He got his ass beat at the tunnel too by security. In 09 I was a student and I watched two get kicked out for instigating a fight... with their own fans.

Listened to Wiltfong and he thinks we still have slight lead here and read last week where Green mentioned he might commit within a month.
This makes me feel a little better haha. Maybe Mims sees that we could use some help

Exactly. I 100% agree, my friend. Some dingbat like TID probably wants that instant gratification & success. Ones worth their salt want to become great men and develop into great players
Any recruit, worth his salt, can tell we need help across the board. Depth is key to competing in the SEC and I think these recruits see that.
