'17 GA DT Aubrey Solomon (NCAA IS A FAIR ORGANIZATION)

Imagine you're gifted enough to play CFB for 4 years. Imagine you have an injury that forces you to reexamine your options and transfer to another school to get an education with a coach you trust. Now imagine an arbitrary, ridiculous organization of people raking in billions of dollars off the game you play have the final say on whether or not you can play - 30 DAYS BEFORE YOUR FIRST GAME.
Few things I hate more than the NCAA.

If these transfers keep continuing at the rate they are the NCAA should set at least a base criteria. There are many factors to be considered such as coaching changes, illness in close family. Solomon is going to be close but the season-ending injuy he had last year may serve as a needed break to grant a waiver.

Coaching changes shouldn't be a criteria for a transfer waiver imo.

That scholarship doesn't have the coaches name on it.. Transfer if you want, but you shouldn't get a waiver to do so.

"We know you signed this lease to drive a Corvette for the next three years, but here's your Ford Fiesta. Enjoy."

A lot of these kids pick a school based on the ability and track record of the coaching staff to put them in the league. If you signed with a coach who is known for linebackers and defense (Pruitt) and suddenly Kliff Kingsbury or Mike Leach walks through that door one day and brings some unknown LB coach with a poor track record, you don't think they should be able to transfer for their future? They're college kids at the end of the day.

It comes down to changed conditions. If the grantor of an agreement changes the conditions of the contract on the grantee, the grantee deserves the right to reevaluate the contract.

In this case, the contract is with the university, but the foundation and circumstances surrounding the contract is overwhelmingly based on the coaches present at the time the contract is signed. Circumstantially, the agreement has changed. Players deserve this right to opt out of their agreement if the coach leaves.

That has been my opinion, but if they're going to give it for things like not winning the starting job for QBs then why not this?

Spoke to the guy today. I’m not gonna vicariously double down. But he has his theory.

Does anyone follow these waiver rulings nationally? Was jw how many besides Aubrey remain unresolved.

Odd that they would feel so confident about Gibbs and still not have heard on Solomon. And we also know that Trey has been cleared for contact because he’s participated in contact drills, yet CJP remains mum on that situation as well.

I think they are confident that Solomon will get the waiver for whatever reason, and are just waiting for it to be official so some are saying it is done. Then AV can still say, and be correct, that anyone saying he's been cleared is lying. JMO

I didn’t think the school they transferred from had any say in the matter anymore? Thought that part got changed a year or two ago.

They can't control where a kid can transfer to. He's here, obviously. Harbaugh had 0 control over that. But part of the immediate eligibility waiver process is the school the player is leaving from has an opportunity to support or deny a player's story.

After Pruitt's comments at the news conference today I guess you can safely write him off.

Why would that be? Pruitt simply doesn't know yet. Nobody does.

Though tbh I'm skeptical of any "sauces" on this one, unless they actually work for the NCAA, nothing personal against BenHolt. I really think only a handful of folks in the NCAA Legislative Relief Committee knows a dang thing and they are keeping things tight.

By 247 - 11. Though that is just football and may just be FBS. All of D1, all sports, who knows.

Writing off refers to his source who was obviously wrong about him having been cleared already.
