Kid would have been better off coming to UT and letting his friend go Ivy if that’s the case. I struggle to see how riding the bench at Vandy is a better deal than playing at Princeton.Had a feeling that was the case. His teammate would have went to the Ivy League to play if it wasnt for Agu.
Oh well we got a freak talent in Pearce plus josephs and maybe Verse.
Someone needs to put that out in the media. Make a big deal of it, that's pretty much blackmail. On the podcast the guys said the was biggest surprise was Agu. Said he was in constant communication with this staff during his Vandy visit and that when he was on his visit with UT he didn’t rave about Vandy and wasn’t exited about playing in front of no fans lol. AP said in his opinion they used his teammates commitment to keep him, basically said if you decommit then your teammate doesn’t have a spot.
Lol..I don't dislike the kid, I do think it is weird for a competitor to choose a place where they have no chance to compete...call it what you want, but it is weird.I find it sad that adults are on here bashing a kid and calling him a “weirdo” because he’s focused on academics over furthering his athletic career.
Of course, my hope is that those bashing him aren’t actually adults and are just ignorant kids who don’t have a true grasp on the world.
The only reason I gave a crap at all and posted the things I did in this thread was because Bass said it was "Embarrassing" that we were beat out by Vandy. Was committed to Notre Dame...signed with Vandy. Clear evidence this kid is pretty smart, and academics is a major key.
Committed to Lea at Notre Dame...signed with Lea at Vandy. Clear evidence of the bond he has with Lea.
Vandy offers friend/teammate of Agu...Vols (thankfully!!!) did not. Clear evidence of EVEN MORE loyalty.
Clark Lea, in the picture for what(?) a year, two years...Vols get into the picture 3 or 4 weeks ago. Even more evidence loyalty/relationship/bond.
Take all day long at Vandy...may, or may not, have been here. Clear evidence of "want". Any uncertainty on our part, for whatever reason, gives Vandy the edge...no uncertainty amongst their coaches or fanbase at all.
Vandy loses Agu = BIG DEAL...we land Pearce, we won't even remember this kid's name tomorrow.
Anyone clutching pearls or feeling the least bit "concerned" about this kid, or feeling ANYTHING AT ALL about this recruitment, is a loser; and, I think it's time for you to go elsewhere. Other fanbases are looking for new membership each day.
So it went from a guarantee that he was a take and we all should take off our orange blinders and we are being out recruited by Vanderbilt to................. well he may have been a take, I don't really know but in my opinion we should have taken him. You are joke.... just admit you have no clue what you are talking about and just take your poison. You obviously have zero inside opinion and have no facts to back up your horrible takes.Regardless of Pearce I would still bet he was a take. No way to know, but we’re not exactly stacked with DL/Edge Rushers. You take what quality players you can and Agu definitely seems like a great prospect.
No, it isn't the first time I've noticed it. Case in point; Da'Rick Rogers and Nash Nance, Daniel Brooks and Bo Hardegree. It isn't quite as often you hear it being held over the other player's head as a manner of threat, especially a program as devoid of talent and success as Vanderbilt.I assume a lot of coaches. Is this really the first time you’ve noticed a borderline player getting a scholarship that’s the teammate/friend/relative of somebody else a program really wants?
He signed because of Lea. Doesn’t matter who his position coach is.
