'19 GA ILB Trezmen Marshall

Dang we are struggling recruiting right now. Go get Russell and swing for To

Want to feel miserable? Go back and read the war room archives leading up to last NSD. So much hope on guys we were in good spots with, and we whiffed on almost all of them. So many key in home visits with guys, and they all went elsewhere.

I have a feeling this year will be the same. The whole signing a top 5 class is/was a pipedream. Reality is we're coming off two of our worst years back to back - and we looked like smashed buttholes in many games, especially the last two weeks of the year.

That said, we have a lot of good guys already committed, and I think we land an elite back still in Eric Gray. But more than anything, the kids we do sign, they will get quality coaching. They will get excellent physical development. And we as a team will get better. Our schedule is somewhat favorable next year where we should be able to win 8 games at least. Show that progress to '20 kids, and we might be able to build a formidable class around a should be 5 star QB in Bailey.

Yeah, we’ll have to develop and win with top 15 class before we can recruit against GA and Bama it appears. But I think we have coaches who can develop. If we make a big jump on the field next year we may get in that top 5 in 2020

My prediction was 10 -12. Alas it looks like I was overly optimistic.

Pruitt and the staff swung for the fences and looks like will miss on a bunch. Its not the end of the world. We have to start winning more to get those top 10 classes. I believe it will come. The unfortunate thing is we are at the beginning of a 4-6 year rebuild. Its gonna take time. Yes it sucks but thats the way it is.

I know Pruitt said previously we’d be right there at the top for the 19 recruiting class but just don’t see it, think we will finish 15-20 in the recruiting rankings for 19.

Pruitt needs a really good offensive coordinator and he’ll have to win a lot more games next year if we’re going to start signing top 5 classes which is what it’s going to take to get back to where we want to be. Not being negative it’s just reality.

GO VOLS!

Vols fans need to understand that this isn't the 1990's.

If we can sign top 15 classes and get everybit out of each class, then will be much better off. But there are too many "monopolies" in college football for UT to rise to like the 1990's.

UGA is rolling.
Bama is still rolling.
UF has already began to surge back.

That's 3 guaranteed L's for the next 10 years.

Guy is right. I work in GA with some of the most feverish GA fans around and they laugh at TN flipping any of their recruits. And if we get one its bc GA backed off. One said the only reason we got A. Taylor was because GA backed off of him too. I used to not really hate Jawja but after seeing how badly they hate TN-- they're at the top of my S-list.

UGA would have loved to have A. Taylor last cycle...don't let any Dawg fan lie about that one. I hate the whole "staff backed off that's why said player didn't sign to UGA" I have a few contacts in the program and A. Taylor was a 100% take. Just thought it should be said.

The question then becomes how do you win more with very meh SEC recruiting classes (which we are starting to pile up)

He said when he was hired these are the recruits that we need to compete, and they are who he is going to swing for. It's just hard to win these battles right now, but he can't stop swinging for them.

Yeah--I'd would agree but it's all hearsay anyways. If someone passed on Taylor I would instantly mark them a moron. Glad he's a Vol either way.

I think in our hearts, we all *know* this is how rebuilds happen. Good staffs develop 3-star players to a couple more wins than the year before, and after a couple years the bluechippers start jumping in more consistently, resulting in a few more wins. This staff is comprised of elite recruiters. So was our last staff, sorta. Fortunately, this staff is also comprised of teachers, and good developmental coaches. It’ll get better, but incrementally. We’ll still sign a class that ranks between 15-20, probably, but when you consider we are 9-15 the last two years, that’s kinda wild. I’m still all in here, because stability and success are measured over time, and the odds over time still look pretty good to me.
