I get kind of nervous when a group of current commits of a different school visit at the same time. I feel like sometimes it makes things go in the opposite way than you are hoping for.
I’m sure it happens, but most kids not named Preston Williams take these trips looking to hang out with friends and have a little vacation if they’re not legitimately interested in what the school is offering. There are all sorts of disclaimers on the iteneraries for the trips stating that they’ll be asked to leave for not being respectful of the program, and chances are they’ve got a relationship with a staff member they don’t want to disappoint.
Tennessee has been involved with Marshall for a while. The Vols hosted him back in June - and I believe that was an official visit, but I’m double-checking that just to be sure - and he went to one of their spring practices in March. He’s not an out-of-the-blue name at all. Tennessee has been pushing for him for months. Getting him back on campus, regardless of whether it’s an unofficial visit, is another nice step for the Vols.
Remember, Marshall also is a former teammate of Tennessee freshman defensive lineman John Mincey, so there’s at least one connection on the Vols’ current roster, too.
I understand that they wont be openly recruiting for georgia but these kids aren't going to be with coaches the whole time they can easily be in each others ear reminding each other "oh UT is nice.... but at UGA this and that"
