'18 GA LB JJ Peterson (Tennessee signee)

He was taking online classes to raise his core GPA to meet the NCAA's sliding scale. Apparently, that wasn't as easy as it seemed. Maybe he had to repeat a core class a to get a better grade or maybe they decided to have him retake the ACT in July and are waiting for the results. The players were told he'd be here in August. So we wait.

Do you know if the sliding scale is close enough to be an academic redshirt if he does fail to meet eligibility requirements?

One bite at a time, JJ. You can do it, man!

I take it as a good thing that he's "working on academics to get to Tennessee" because
he is working. That work should pay off with improvement. When someone puts the work in, that same someone
gets the accomplishment right back out of it. Hopefully, it will be improvement enough
to get in before Sept., but as long as he keeps working and improving, that's the important thing, however long
it takes for it to be official.

That skill of working to improve academically, with the determination it takes and the character it builds, is something that can be applied
to many things outside of the classroom. Just stick with it. Break the whole project/assignment down into bite-sized smaller pieces. By focusing on whatever the next step is needed to figure out how to do the problem you're working on now until it makes sense, you can eventually get it done.

It will pay off sooner than it seems like at the moment if you just keep grinding.
I have faith he can make it happen. Vol Nation is pulling for you, big man.

It would have been nice if he had not waited until the last minute to start putting in that hard work in academics.

Good luck with that...He ain't coming, at least not this season.
Did you think Preston Williams wouldn't get in? I believe it was late, late August before he was finally able to show up.
Situations like this have happened several times before; and while yes, some have never made it in, some have. It's the one's who have that give me hope for JJ. Until I hear "he's not gonna make it in", or some variation of that, he'll be here. I'll hold out hope for the both of us, McGill. I understand, buddy, why your bad feeling about JJ is there...it's been NOTHING BUT bad feelings for all of us for a very long time now. But ask yourself, my brother...do you really think that Fulmer and Pruitt won't figure out something to be able to get JJ in? I have put my complete trust into those two. I think he'll be here, my friend! As I said, I believe it may have been the very end of August before Preston Williams ever stepped foot on campus.

Haha! Positivity wins for today lol. JJ+Pruitt+Probst>Preston Williams chances of ‘making it work’
Also, with Phil on the job, it just calms all things Big Orange for me. They'll make it work! I just keep telling myself, "Preston Williams", whenever I kind of get worried about JJ. I remember the Williams saga.

Is this what you meant?

I can't project a day," Propst told GoVols247. "He's in classes and it's winding down, but as of this afternoon, we're not going to be finished this afternoon, which is Wednesday afternoon. Obviously once that's done, it takes a 24-hour period or a 36-hour period for it to be graded and posted. He has a session this afternoon, and I think there's a final tomorrow.

By this, should know the grade tomorrow? It doesn’t sound like online classes from this???
UT writers need to have different sources, most guys do have more than one source on a kid.

Negative, you will find plenty of proof in my posts where I root for kids to succeed from bad or less than ideal situations. Love a good success story. You won’t find one post in my history on here not rooting for the kids, from any state, to any school. I’m hoping he makes it but Nash made me wonder if Propst was telling all or stringing everyone along.

I've wondered for awhile now if we can really trust Propst. No info, just speculation. I mean, he's been saying all along, "soon". I just wonder if he's ticked because he wasn't picked for one of the coaching jobs here, so.... .Crazy I know.

He would only be trolling the fans and media. JJ, the parents, our coaches, and admin will have a much better picture than "soon"

I agree it doesn't add up unless He has taken multiple classes and failed to make the grade he needed his summer which is possible

Except the only person they have talked to is Propst, no one else, the way he wants it. That’s why I said there is others there they can call.

I don’t think Rush is pissed or has an agenda. I don’t think that would benefit anyone! I think he’s trying to answer the question as good as he knows how...

He wasnt sure when, but was confident he would make it in...

We will know soon...

UT has had to rely on Propst. Once Peterson is a student at UT, he'll have access to tutors and other resources, but until then, it’s up to Propst to help him qualify. What started out as taking a few courses to raise his core GPA and become eligible in time for summer session has turned into a lengthier ordeal.

It would be less concerning if he’d been slacking and just needed to buckle down and get the grade. But "working hard every day" implies that he's trying. There’s still time.
