'18 GA LB JJ Peterson (Tennessee signee)

y'all are funny.

this kid's future hinges on one exam? cmon!

He gone. we havent even begun to tackle the Clearapinghouse.

If this were Butch and Currie telling us “soon” i would be worried. Pruitt and Fulmer don’t sugar coat anything, and Pruitt isn’t here to blow smoke up anyone’s ass. I think we all know that by now. Let’s have a little trust guys

I'm just pissed cause I texted everybody in my TN recruiting pool group text a few days ago when his name hit the registry JJ was gonna be in town today and was officially cleared......... obviously should have waited

UT has had to rely on Propst. Once Peterson is a student at UT, he'll have access to tutors and other resources, but until then, it’s up to Propst to help him qualify. What started out as taking a few courses to raise his core GPA and become eligible in time for summer session has turned into a lengthier ordeal.

It would be less concerning if he’d been slacking and just needed to buckle down and get the grade. But "working hard every day" implies that he's trying. There’s still time.

I've wondered for awhile now if we can really trust Propst. No info, just speculation. I mean, he's been saying all along, "soon". I just wonder if he's ticked because he wasn't picked for one of the coaching jobs here, so.... .Crazy I know.
My guess is that Propst is hoping and praying that JJ qualifies. It's not a good look for him. He should have done more IMO to intervene in JJ's academics. JJ's academic situation has been well known by his teachers and coaches at his HS for a while. It just amazes me how these kids are allowed or enabled by the adults in the room to put sports ahead of academics. When I played sports in HS we had to maintain a certain GPA in order to play sports.

Yep, I have to agree with you on this.

I mean, guys, chill. I know it's high school, and whatever, but my summer class that I just took at my community college isn't technically even over until today. It may be possible he took a class that isn't over until the Friday before the fall begins, which is today. Classes start for Colquitt Co. on Monday. I'd say if we haven't heard anything by Tuesday of next week, then maybe then we could flip. But, if you've been a student, you know how the process to get grades entered in the computer, and to have everything done can take much longer than you'd like. And then the NCAA of course has to clear everything, and it's not like he can just "stop by" the NCAA office. I mean, this one could ride out until the end of August. What's important is THAT he gets here, not WHEN he gets here. We'd all love to have him at the start of camp, but I want him to be ready for the SEC season as well. If he makes it in August 31st, and then doesn't play until Florida, well, awesome. Just more excitement. It'll be okay.

Sometimes it is the kid that just doesn't listen to what teachers drill into his head until it's too late. Not saying this is situation here but it's not always teachers etc. they can only push so much. When I was in HS we had a beast at RB that Michigan, FSU all the big powerhouses at the time were on. He was in the principal office almost daily with principal pleading with him to just give effort and go to class and do the work and he will make it. He didnt listen. DID same ole thing. Kid was ridiculously good. Instead he doesn't graduate HS and ends up on the streets

I definitely get what you're saying. JJ looked at school as a way to play football, not as a way to get an education. I just wonder if some of these kids would do better academically if the coaches benched them for a period of time. Regardless, the kid deserves a lot of credit if he makes it to campus, because he was really behind. I've always believed in the concept of "if there's a will there's a way"; so hopefully he gets it done.
