'18 GA LB JJ Peterson (Tennessee signee)

Two things:

1. LOVE the Pruitt hire and his staff. Some real pitbulls on the staff. Fulmer hired the right guy imo.

2. In regards to Propst joining the support staff and potentially bringing Peterson, this can't happen under new NCAA rule which prevents the hiring of people associated with recruit for two years.

If the kid wants to come to UT they can't prevent that. As far as Probst not being able to join I am not familiar with the so called new rule. And really I don't think it's fair to penalize a coach from employment if he did not break any rules. The NCAA don't need to be adding rules, they need to be focusing on taking out some of stupid ones.

Thing is, the rule prevents Tennessee from RECRUITING kids from that school but doesn’t prevent the SIGNING of such kids. They can still visit on their own dime and may feel emboldened by Propst’s presence. As for Peterson, he’s pretty much recruited. A similar thing happened to Ohio State with Micah Parsons. A minor rule was violated when he showed up on the Gameday stage in Columbus. They were punished by not being allowed to recruit him, but they were still the favorites until Penn State flipped him back at the last sec.

interesting read on JJ from a while back.

“He’s just not a phone talker either,” Colquitt County coach Rush Propst said. “He’s an ol’ South Georgia country boy that doesn’t get into the media hype stuff. He just does not. He doesn’t care to talk to anybody. Jim Harbaugh could call him. Urban Meyer could call him or Nick Saban could call him during a contact period. He probably wouldn’t even answer the phone. He just doesn’t get into all of that.”

Propst said Nick Saban told him Alabama will make Peterson a priority for 2018.

Georgia outside linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer is recruiting him. Sherrer served as the defensive coordinator for Propst at Hoover.

There’s a trust factor between those two that maybe only Jeremy Pruitt at Alabama or Chip Lindsey at Auburn can replicate.
Lindsey and Pruitt both coached under Propst at Hoover in Alabama.

I just got around to watching JJ's highlights.

El. Oh. El.

It's hilarious. Captain Insano shows no mercy. He also runs a KO back for a TD.

Refreshing, we’ve got to get rid of the pretty boys and back to playing football. Kid fits the mold and is a FOOTBALL PLAYER!

I’ve seen the Alabama and Ohio State programs up close. The players are flat out bigger and better. Hate to admit but that’s why we aren’t elite. This kid here fits the Reuben Foster mold. Speed is CRAZY at LB!

Because butch is stupid. He wanted to be faster and lighter while Lawson was pushing to be bigger and stronger. You see who was right about that argument that led to Lawson's dismissal

Yup. Lawson was a fantastic S&C coach. Still is. He is still in the Knoxville area (by choice)....id be fine with him coming back on board. His teams were always ready to go in the 4th quarter

We need this guy bad to develop some depth at linebacker.

If all these guys on our current roster stay healthy then I could see our starting 4 linebackers being. Ignont, Bituli, Kirkland jr, and sapp. With a possibility of Austin Smith moving back to OLB along with Kongbo moving to outside linebacker. All 6 if these guys were highly sought after, and will play huge roles next season. The only thing we need is depth! Those 6 are solid! All were 4 star guys at least by one recruiting service if not all. Get some solid young guys in here to back them up and the line backing corps is not as far off as some would think. I think our main deficiency is in the secondary, and we need to land at least 2-4 guys to come in and contribute year one. I see TKjr coming back, Warrior, Osborne, Buchannon, Shamburger, Abernathy, and possibly Gaulden. That’s a solid 7 guys and I’m probably missing a few, but get some recruits for depth and that’s not a bad group either.

My problem is after naming all these guys off and seeing their recruiting ranking it really irks me. All these guys were around 4 stars, and they HAVE NOT been developed!! It’s an embarrassment and it makes me mad thinking about how little these good recruits have been developed!! We have talent looking on both sides of the ball, but with how poorly these guys have been developed it’s no wonder we did so bad.

Don’t sleep on Darrell Taylor

Man if we could get this kid to sign. The CB Griffin as well. Start some more momentum on the defensive side.

Sell others like Isaac Stuart-Taylor, Coynis Miller, Quay Walker to join Emerson and co. for a dynamite freshman class that can grow together, get immediate playing time (even if just in certain packages freshman year) and help turn Tennessee around under the tutelage of talented and respectable defensive minded coaches.

Has to be appealing to a young kid.

Damn.... I might be dreaming but that would be awesome.
