'24 GA LB Sammy Brown (Clemson commit)

He's also setting it up to bitch about it if we don't get him.
Not really. He’s not even in my top 5 of wants for this class on defense. He would definitely be a great addition though. DL and DBs are where the biggest difference makers in modern football. You don’t need a freak LB, just solid guys that aren’t liabilities. I just think landing the top LB in the country over the best program in the country’s back yard that emphasizes defense and being able to do so without promising him a preposterous amount of money is a bigger recruiting win than Nico despite the fact that Nico is a bigger game changer

Nope. Nico was way bigger. Now if we would have landed Raiola maybe you could have said it was bigger than Nico. But not a LB.
I’m strictly talking as far as a recruiting win where our coaches were able to convince a player Tennessee was a better place to be than the competition solely because of the direction our program is headed. We essentially outbid Oregon for Nico because they were higher on Dante Moore at the time. Not saying money was the only reason we got him, but it definitely was the difference maker or the deal wouldn’t have been as much as it was. Brown has gone on record saying NIL isn’t the biggest deal for him. So landing him would mean we went into Kirby Smart’s back yard and beat him out for the #1 LB in the country while Georgia was coming off of back to back national championship and top 5 defenses. I can’t think of a recruiting accomplishment more impressive than that. Unless we would’ve beat out Lincoln Riley for Nico

Kinda don't like he took his official this weekend...😏. Nice kid, seems pretty genuine.

He’s not the type of kid to string a school and staff along. He comes from a really good family. He wouldn’t be visiting here if he wasn’t genuinely interested. We may not land him but we’re absolutely in it. I think if he had tochoose today it’s UGA. But I think we are right there on their heels. I’d love to see him at Tennessee. Wherever he commits to is where he’ll end up going. I don’t see him choosing and committing to a school and then changing his mind. He’s a solid kid and I think he sticks with whatever school he originally chooses.

Prob not the best thing if he was choosing today that he’d pick UGA considering he’s experiencing his OV here and has yet to do so to UGA. Like I doubt they’re gonna blow it on the OV nahmean

Sooner or later we gotta start landing some of these big timers but for now, compared to last year or year before even getting this type of player on campus is a coup up against the reigning national champs.

I mean what wlse can you do here?

No I agree completely. Just commenting on how poster was saying “if he picked today it’d be UGA”. Well he’s had an OV here but not there yet. And I’m 100% certain UGA knows how to pull off an OV.

Not that the OV is all that matters, just stating the obvious that being behind UGA even after the OV seems like it makes it a lot less likely he’d up in orange.

do we know UGA still leads?

Gotta keep winning/beat UGA.

We just need to outspend UGA on a few players.
You really believe all these recruits are after the money only? Go listen to some of the industry insiders. They’re on record stating that the big boys aren’t spending NIL on incoming high schoolers. The big dollars are reserved for retention efforts on their own roster and plug-and-play transfers.

I can't believe that is entirely true, sure the Manning family needs no cash. The vast majority of HS seniors can be swayed by a bucketful of cash.

Jefferson, Ga is less than 30 mins from Athens.

Alcoa (Randall Cobb) and Oak Ridge (Tee Higgins) are similar distance to Knoxville.

Clemson was thought to be the leader for this kid and they are definitely more than 30 mins away from Jefferson, GA.

Distance from home isn’t a big factor. Parents will be in GA but he has family in East TN. He has an aunt and uncle who graduated from Tennessee and both still live in Knoxville with their families. His grandparents live in Johnson City.

I said that in reference to Jackcrevol saying how much Sammy has visited Athens. Point was, it's more convenient.
