Some coaches are poor recruiters and great coaches. I get that. Friend is neither a good recruiter or a particularly good coach. Defend him if you want but Cheney had had his fill late in the preseason and took ownership of their development. Friend is highly paid dead weight IMHO.

Anywho. This recruit is gone to learn cheap shots and chop blocks. As we say: Next!

Friend is a good coach, he was a good coach before he came here, and he had absolutely nothing to work with in Year 1 here, the difference this year was remarkable. Morris and Wright both progressed well also. This Tate thing was a hope at best, it would have been great if he flipped but it doesn't sound like he's the kind of kid who felt like going through the recruitment process again. He reached a necessary level of comfort with UGA's new OL coach and was happy to shut it down. There's probably nothing the staff could have done, sounds like he wanted to avoid the attention, so pressing him was probably counter-productive with his personality type, but we had to try. Look who else tried, Saban and Dabo, not bad company to be in.
