'19 GA OL Wanya Morris (Tennessee signee)

As for 4-star offensive tackle Wanya Morris of Grayson High, I just don’t like Auburn’s chances. That last official visit to Tennessee seems to have pushed the Vols over the top on that one. That said, I don’t expect Auburn to stop recruiting him after he announces Tuesday with Pappoe.

Wanya's likes on his twitter account aren't too promising over the last couple of hours. Oh well, Ill wait and see. Not the end of the world, but definitely need a couple of elite O lineman this class. Hope he picks the Vols...

The four-star offensive tackle from Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga., is set to announce his commitment to Tennessee or Auburn on Tuesday evening. Morris went on an official visit to Tennessee the weekend of April 21 to attend the Vols’ spring-ending Orange and White Game, and while he once was scheduled to take an official visit to Auburn over the weekend, there has been no sign suggesting that Morris made the trip. The Tigers remain the slight favorites on the 247Sports Crystal Ball, but sources have indicated that the momentum has shifted back toward Tennessee in what has been a back-and-forth battle for Morris, a top-50 prospect in the 247Sports Composite.

I never left. Just stopped posting. Life got in the way.

Good to see you back. You probably know already, but there's a lot of people that like to run "insiders" into the ground if they perceive that they have been wrong about something. Most of us appreciate whatever information people choose to share, but there are some jackwagons who like to jump on people with both feet if they get something wrong. FWIW, I think you're right about Morris.

In my message board travels through the years I’ve learned this the hard way many times over. Heck I was just blacklisted from the 247 site for disagreeing with one of their writers on something I was right about lol

I knew a lot of the coaches under Butch. Now I’m just lucky to know some staff and players. I’ve never considered myself an “insider.”

Thoughts on Butch's era now that there is a new regime?

I’m nowhere near as negative. I think he did some great things for the program. Bringing back ex players, making the environment more welcoming to fans, putting us back in the national spotlight in recruiting.

I think ultimately his undoing was his coaching staff. Thigpen was a solid recruiter but a horrendous coach. Same for Martinez. Not allowing Shoop to bring his staff was foolish. Promoting Scott. The hiring of Beard.

I just don’t think he was ready to be an SEC coach. It’s a big jump from Cincy to UT.

Any thoughts on the idea that Butch was a major league micromanager, and that explains the staff decisions (ie. he wanted "yes" men he could control)?

I would say that’s an incredibly accurate statement. One coach that I knew quite well left for this reason. He was very happy at UT but couldn’t stand Butch.

That was my perception from afar. Some people thought that opinion to be ridiculous, but he just oozed "control freak" to me. The most obvious sign being the promotion of Larry Scott to OC over much more qualified candidates.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Good input and this fits with all the personnel decisions he made. I was so puzzled by Butch’s coordinator hires more than anything. He was like the anti-Fulmer who was bothered by his staff outshining him.
