Not much has been reported on Smael Mondon in the last few weeks as we now enter the month of June where a likely decision will be made by the nation’s top rated LB in the country for 2021.

I talked to several different circles in the last week or so here and most think it is still a three team race with Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee squarely in the mix here. I do know that he communicates with each staff on the regular. One source told me on Friday he keeps hearing it is a two-team race behind the scenes with UGA being one of those teams and Tennessee being the other. So you can see there is not a ton of information out there, but that sums up what I can get from different circles right now.

5-star linebacker Smael Mondon, Dallas (Ga.) Paulding County: Mondon has tentative plans to announce his verbal sometime this summer and we think there are three schools to watch, in this order -- Georgia, Tennessee and Auburn. Georgia has been the clear front-runner for awhile, but Auburn, led by the efforts of linebackers coach Travis Williams, has at least made this interesting. Ditto for the Vols. Supposedly, Georgia views Tennessee as its biggest threat. Can Auburn surprise people? It's possible. One could argue that Mondon is the Tigers' top linebacker target. He's an absolute no-brainer take.

He has been a little quiet here the past few weeks. Hate to make the analogy, but similar to the quietness around DW last minute when, imo, he knew we were getting the screwjob, but was a good man to not ruin the kid's moment.
