'20 GA QB Harrison Bailey (UT SIGNEE)

Rivals positions rankings are out, Bailey is #2 Pro Style QB

One of the most compelling questions at the quarterback position in the class of 2020 is who, if anyone, will join Uiagalelei as a five-star? There are several candidates on the cusp, including four sitting just one Rivals Ranking below five-star status at a 6.0. Consider that in the 2019 class there are no five-star quarterbacks and just two quarterbacks who hold a 6.0 Rivals Ranking and you start to see the depth of the position in the 2020 class compared to its predecessor.

The closest to five-star status based on the first ranking of the Rivals100 for the 2020 class is Georgia native Harrison Bailey. A prospect we have been following since before his high school career began, Bailey landed his first scholarship offer from Miami when he was still in the 8th grade. Whereas other quarterbacks who landed pre-high school offers did not reach the pinnacle of the position, Bailey’s offer list now includes more than 20 schools and the excitement for his potential remains high. Is it high enough to eventually earn him five-star status? He will get his next chance to make that case at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by adidas later this month.

Man, I want this kid at UT. Right now, Bailey is my first choice for our 2020 QB. Hopefully, his teammate, UT commit and favorite WR at Marietta, Keyton can help persuade him to come throw to him again for the Vols.

Thanks Ron on all the updates, especially letting us know Bailey is in town, today. Ron Swanson is the Godfather of the RF

his father and brother joined him on the visit to tennessee on friday and saturday, and he said he enjoyed working with first-year vols coach jeremy pruitt’s staff — led by offensive coordinator tyson helton — during saturday’s camp.

“we started with a whole bunch of bag drills,” bailey said. “from there, we went into a lot of routes on air with some of my receivers. And then, at the end, coach helton pointed out stuff that i could work on, and coach pruitt was out there, too. He told me some stuff i could do to improve my game later on in my career.

“it was really nice, actually. I could definitely see me getting coached by coach helton and coach pruitt. They’re great teachers. They were pretty chill, for the most part. It was very instructive, and it was some good work. “i mean, it was a great visit. I haven’t worked out for many colleges, so i just got to work with the coaches, and i felt like that was beneficial.”

“we got to sit down and talk about the offense and kind of how i can see myself fitting into it and all that,” bailey said. “it was pretty fun. They like to throw the ball vertically downfield, and he said he feels that i’m one of the best to do that. “he thinks i could really fit in great. It’s just a matter of me making my decision and seeing where i go, and if it’s tennessee, great. He said, if i went there, it’d be great and i’ll do great.”

“i’ve already narrowed down the schools, within my family and stuff,” he said. “i’m not going to make it public. I’m actually not going to release the list at all, because i feel that’s wanting to get attention and stuff, and i’m not really too big into that. “i’ll still probably keep that list to myself, and then i guess when the time comes for me to commit, i’ll commit. It could be within probably the next couple months. … either during, before or after (the season) — it just depends.”
