He can also de commit from Mizzu at anytime. If Mizzu continues down this path of disaster, holding onto Horn and any other recruits will become increasingly difficult.I think Heupel likely felt pressured to pursue Simpson as a top-ranked, in-state QB, whether he was his first preference at QB, or not. I always preferred Horn over Simpson, personally. I just think it's a bit silly to take the stance that Horn grew up wanting to play for Tennessee so badly, but then gets his feelings hurt while the new staff feels out the QB landscape upon getting the job. It's not like he spurned Tennessee for the QB goldmine of Alabama, Clemson, or Ohio State. He could have committed to Mizzou any time he wanted to. Just unfortunate timing, I guess. Not sure it's fair to cast blame at our staff for any sort of mismanagement in the case.
Not sure what gucci was referring to but AP has said recently that basically it'd be impossible to recruit any other QB without it getting back to Tayven Jackson. Therefore, he didn't think the staff would be willing to risk losing Jackson in order to roll the dice on someone else. They like Jackson, so he expects them to just move on from Horn and Simpson.I agree, but for AP to make such a definitive statement I was curious if there was a back story.

Don’t risk Jackson for dating either of these two.

In my opinion if a kid is so fragile that you can't recruit a 2nd guy at his position then you have a problem. We could likely lose 1 or 2 qbs at seasons end. They need to tell him son this is big boy football and we are likely taking a 2nd qb man up and prepare for competition. Plus Jackson is no barn burner anyways he has been running a wing-t up until recently. So he has no guarantee of being a success anyways. Just my 2 cents.

Not how it works anymore with brands and whatnot. You get your verbal, keep recruiting them and allow them to recruit for you and complete your investment on signing day. Delineate from that path and you end up with neither imo.If a team can pick up Horn they need to. There is a good possibility that Bailey will transfer. And we know Milton will never be too accurate
But I bet one of those Wade boys would come right in win the starting qb job? Amirite? In my opinion if a kid is so fragile that you can't recruit a 2nd guy at his position then you have a problem. I agree 100%. I like Jackson but he’s not an elite prospect, IMO. That’s not a knock on the kid... very few are truly eliteIn my opinion if a kid is so fragile that you can't recruit a 2nd guy at his position then you have a problem. I’m calling bull **** on the whole “can’t recruit another QB” narrative
Spencer Rattler may have lost his job today... Considering the Oklahoma connection, maybe Heupel brings him in. Who knows. If the staff wanted him they would recruit him. May be waiting for more of the season to play out for both our and our competitions trends to establish which QB's might be in play and just dance around till then. There might be some guys they value more than those kicked around on this board and they might even be making decisions based on next years targets. Got to be tougher to sell a job if you have two guys in the class right in front of you.

K. Name the other QB in Bryce Young’s class…I’ll wait. How about the other two with Jalen Milroe while I’m waiting for the first answer? Oklahoma lost Vandagriff to UGA and replaced him with some scrub named Caleb Williams…and who else? QBs have options. ELITE teams recognize that when they’re recruiting.Only recruiting 1 qb is not big boy ball. Even Saban tells elite 5* guys I will kp recruiting so be prepared for competition. We cant be elite being scared that guys will look around because we recruiting other elite guys.
