I watched that game on TV. He stood out. Right up there with Bailey and Ojulari.I know I mentioned this was back in the thread after we (Marietta) played them in the playoffs, but he is the best player I have seen us play against the last few years. I'm not talking about just RB, but best overall player and we've played guys going everywhere and guys in top 10 of national rankings. He was unbelieveable in the playoff game when we faced them last season.
He did have a lot of drops this season, but I'm sure it's something that will be worked on at LSU. He knows what he is doing at WR and would get himself open even though other teams were keying on him. He really is an elite athlete, the best athlete I have ever seen in high school. He looks like an NFL DE when you see him up close. If he would have been just playing DE in HS he would have probably have the the top player at that position. He isn't afraid of contact either as I have seen said on here. He would go out of his was to run people over sometimes. I imagine in some of the games it may have been boring for him and he may have lost concentration. He was going against great players week in and week out, but at times he was just so much better than anyone lining up against him it would be hard to be 100% up.I watched that game on TV. He stood out. Right up there with Bailey and Ojulari.
Side note, I am not convinced Gilbert has a stellar career. He feasted due to a size advantage and good atheliticism IMO. Alot of bad drops and lack of effort. I wasn't that upset when he chose LSU. Ojulari was the big miss IMO.
Would like your opinion since you watched more games than I.
