'20 GA RB Jahmyr Gibbs (Bama Commit)

Chill out. He can pick from literally any school in the country and may just want to go to an immediate title contender. He isn’t a pea brain for not wanting to come to a 7 win team.
Maybe you should check the reason he doesn't want to come here. According to Austin Price, Gibbs feels like due to the previous coaching staff that the current coaching staff won't use him properly. So I stand by my original pea brain comment.

Then the current staff needs to beg a visit or at least an in home and show Gibbs video of exactly how he will be used. Have the support staff compile a fancy looking playbook for stuff specific to Gibbs. Everything said about Gibbs makes him sound like a thoughtful and intelligent young man. He knows there was a house cleaning at UT so getting past the bad taste left by cornbread shouldn’t be impossible

I don't think that's fair. This was AP's quote:

"After digging around some tonight, Tennessee appears to not be a factor for Jahmyr Gibbs. The last staff really hurt his thoughts on Tennessee is what was expressed to me by people down in Dalton."

Unless you have additional commentary by Price, then that doesn't say anything about how this staff would use him. To me, it's a pretty reasonable expression of the fact that Jeremy Gump and his bumbling band of buffoons just left a bad taste in his mouth that unfortunately tainted UT in the process.

I think he would absolutely excel in this offense, but he will likely excel in just about any system as well. So, it's not like he is necessarily going to pick a team that just stifles all of his output.

I guess you're the type of guy that has to have everything spelled out for you. Why would someone sour on a program because of a completely different staff and not give a look at a program with a new staff that has proven it can run a dynamic offense? Blaming Pruitt for Gibbs not wanting come here now is as moronic as Gibbs identifying this program with people who are no longer here.

No, you're just reading things into the statement that aren't there, and being a bit of a prick in the process.

He's not necessarily sour on the program, maybe he got treated like crap when he came here for the visits, and now he doesn't want to come back. If I have a couple bad experiences at a restaurant (he visited more than once if memory serves), and then I hear that the ownership has changed...I'm still not going back. That place sucks, and I don't want to go there.

That's easy to understand. It's not surprising at all that he could think that UT sucks after people at UT - whether they are still there or not - treated him poorly and made him feel not wanted.

Spot on ^^^ I hope the coaches go all out trying to get back in it, but I don't blame him if he's had a bad experience previously.

I get that it probably hurt his feelings, but that approach seems pretty silly and extreme.

If his girlfriend breaks up with him, is he going to swear off of dating women because of it? If his F150 breaks down, is he never going to drive another truck? If he hates the new Bond movie, is he going to stop going to the theater, altogether?

The reason he was turned off to Tennessee is no longer a part of the equation. Everything else about the university seemed to really intrigue him if he was considering Tennessee to begin with.

I get this point, but I think the comparison is slightly more nuanced. If my F150 breaks down, and then they release a new F150, I'm probably not buying another Ford. Could I read into the ways that they fixed the problems that caused me trouble and reconsider? Sure, I could, but I could also just buy a truck from another company. If I don't like the Bond movie, I'm still going to see movies, but not necessarily Bond movies.

Well, I think you're using my examples a touch too literally. Admittedly, perhaps they weren't necessarily apples to apples correlations, but the point remains. What turned him off about Tennessee is no longer in play. If he liked Tennessee before (he allegedly wanted to come to Tennessee), then I can't imagine why he's using Pruitt as a reason not to give them a second look.

I get it, and I think he would be stellar here. Sometimes you just sour on a place based on a bad experience. Also, he has no shortage of suitors, and many of them have a better chance to win a championship. I'm sure that has something to do with it as well.

Yeah, he absolutely has his pick of the litter. If he came out and said he wants an opportunity to win a championship, I'd have no issue with him picking someone besides us. I even said that a few days ago when people questioned "Why Bama?". I absolutely can't blame him if that is what is driving his decision process.

I don’t blame any recruit for picking any place - their body their choice or something like that.

Jeremy Pruitt. The gift that keeps on giving 🤢

Hey! If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Jeremy Pruitt, our stupid, cheating, asparagus-fearing ex-coach, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people that Tennessee has over paid for and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is! Hallelujah! Holy ****! Where's the Tylenol?

You, sir, win the internet, today.

If you had a bad experience at a restaurant, they changed ownership and have shown to be incredibly improved and you still won't go back because of that one bad experience, you're just as nonsensical as Gibbs. That's a ridiculous mindset.

I doubt he would go back and date her agin if he had been treated badly on the first and second dates when some other hot girls are begging at the door.

If accurately using the analogy, you can't operate with the understanding that it is the same girl. The person is different (Pruitt vs Heupel), while still being a female (Tennessee).

Admittedly, the comparison is a bit ambiguous as to how you assign the roles.

Maybe so. Just sayin', in this metaphor there's a lot of other restaurants in the world. Some that I can afford are significantly better than the one I had a bad experience with.

Gibbs has options, and we'll just have to wait and see. Pruitt reportedly damaged his view of UT. If people treat you poorly, everything about a place can seem less enticing. Get your feelings hurt, and see if you enjoy the scenery as much as you would if you're having a good time. I'm just saying, I don't think Gibbs is being "ridiculous," if this is his opinion.
