‘23 GA S Jack Luttrell (Tennessee transfer)

As the journey for Luttrell continues, he’ll head to Tennessee this week after finishing all of his high school requirements early. He’ll practice with the team as they prepare for their upcoming bowl game. So what exactly are the Volunteers getting? “They’re getting an incredible athlete. You know, it wouldn’t surprise me if at some point at Tennessee, Jack plays some offense. I think at some point you see him returning kicks, he did it for us and he was fantastic. He’s just an all-around and very instinctive, very smart, physical football player,” said Calhoun.

“I’m bringing myself. I’m not gonna bring in this whole new new gig, I’m going to bring myself, buy into the program, buy into the team and whatever coach says I’m going to do. I am going to work my butt off and hopefully get some playing time down the road,” said Luttrell.

Leadership, hard work, a team guy, but more importantly Luttrell will make the Volunteers program better both on and off the field. It took just one season for the Packers and Colquitt community to experience that. “Tennessee knows exactly what they are getting but more importantly, they’re getting a better person, and I think when you can have those two as a great combination, then the sky's the limit,” said Calhoun.

He isn’t an immediate impact guy other than maybe some ST stuff, but I think he will end up being an excellent player down the line for us.

Of course, he’s lacks speed, instincts and play-making ability, no need after watching his videos,

There it is, the subtle "I'm a coach" reference. For the record, I never comp'ed him to anyone or said anything about him being white.

No Bama or UGA offer, and I just mention them because they generally know DBs. Maybe he's just a kid they see some versatility in or just hoping he could help the 120-somethingth pass defense in the country. If he does great but I get the skepticism. Still can't find a verified 40 time for him either.

But please tell us more about that pee wee team you coached.
Odd you would consider a team we torched for 52 as “knowing db’s”?

What would make you say that.?
Dude was the fastest player on his team. He punt returns for TDs and he made plays on defense all the time
Did you read the post I quoted? I was being sarcastic! Reading the background on him, and why he is here along with his skills I think he’s gonna be a really good ballplayer for us!!! Very underrated 3*

He did commit a very long time ago, so his ratings probably suffered because that’s what the services do with the hot teams. I am curious on the 40 time also but looking at several of his videos, he looks to have a very good game speed! Has anybody seen any of his senior here video because he went up to 7A to improve competition and still had great season.

I won't claim to be an expert. But his highlights look good. He played against very good competition and didn't look "slow" or "unathletic" in the least.

What I do take some comfort in is that the staff took his commitment early and has never waivered. FWIW, he's faster than a lot of starting SEC safeties if he runs a 4.6 40.

Yeah you may be right. I'm not crapping on him, just trying to sus out why he didn't get the bump some of our other guys did.

I think he has some potential as an in-the-box safety if he can put a little weight on. Ballhawking deep safety I don't really see in his current film but guys can be developed.

Or like his coach said he could play offense or return kicks/punts.

Lmfao….another “I watched a 2 minute highlight film, so I can make these claims”

Edit: think I missed the blue font. My bad

By film you mean “max preps highlights”….that’s not film

You think they left out a bunch of plays showing him playing deep coverage like Ed Reed?

I kinda doubt it there Pee Wee

The idea that you can make any of the claims you’ve attempted to make about his ability, project-ability, etc based on a 2 minute highlight clip is possibly the most delusional thing I’ve ever heard

His highlight tape, which there’s well more than 2 mins of, is just a part of the evidence one might need to make predictions. Predictions can always be wrong and mine are not an exception.

It’s fair to ask questions as to why he didn’t get a ratings bump like virtually every other Vol commit got. You’re the delusional one for not being able to stomach the slightest bit of criticism about the kid.

I can easily see the staff taking Luttrell with the vision he’ll be a return specialist or receiver or any number of things if he can’t hack it at safety. Versatile, great kid, peer recruited his ass off… does he project great at any one defensive position? Imo not really. And that’s based on all the evidence, I could run through it all but it’ll just be seen as hate and I don’t want to upset your snowflake brethren any further.

I think he could help us, I just don’t think it’ll be at FS.
