The four-star said that his parents talk to coaches from different schools as much as he does at times. They are very much involved in this process and they will support their son regardless of his choice, but they are there to help him find that perfect fit.
"It is about the total fit for me," said McCollough. "I am looking at the depth chart, the upcoming schedules for each team for when I get there, the location, my major (engineering), defensive schemes and all types of things.
"It is not just about the team, but about the entire environment. I want to be comfortable with the teaches, the students, where I live, so there is a lot going into this.
"I am all about family, so they will be very involved until I make my decision. They will be a big factor."
His mother grew up in Huntsville (Ala.), so she has always liked the Crimson Tide. His father is from south Georgia, so Florida State was always his team. They are throwing their favorites as a fan out the window though and evaluating each of their son's finalists like a parent should.
"It will be a family decision. They have questions that I may not have, so they will call coaches and ask them when they need to know. They have been on the visits with me, so they know a lot about each school like I do.
"We will have some more big discussions coming up and as soon as we know, I will make my decision."
McCollough is planning to visit Tennessee July 28, once the dead period ends. He is not sure if that will be an official or unofficial visit yet.
He said South Carolina is recruiting him the hardest at this time and that has a lot to do with head coach Will Muschamp staying in touch daily.
The last visit he took was to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama spring game. McCollough has spent time with family this summer and prepared for his senior season.
