'25 GA S Lagonza Hayward (Tenneseee commit)

You’ll be surprised how competent a team full of stud athletes that were specifically recruited for their fit in a system can make a coach. Also, Heupel’s staff prioritized things correctly. They targeted elite pass rushers first. Now they’re rounding out the secondary.
We shall see. Of course if the only way a coach can be considered good is if he has great talent around him, is he really good?

Interested to see how likely you think he ends up at linebacker. Ik they like him at both spots and he could be pretty good at both lol

I think he’s fast enough to be a head hunter at safety. He could put on weight and move to backer but man the kid has good instincts in the secondary. With what this years LB class looks like, I’d like to keep him at Safety

Agreed he is too fast for lb as weird as that sounds. Elite Strong safety

Yep. They have the development chops to prove it. Spin whatever you want but the secondary has been our worst position group since Martinez has been here. Other coaches on our staff have taken what they were given and coached them up. Martinez hasn’t.
Obviously he and Coach orchestrated a room cleansing for a reason. Could be a big change in trends this fall. At least it can be more intelligently addressed after this completed season, first couple of games not so much.

How can you say they have the development chops when they’ve been surrounded by top tier talent during Kirby’s entire career and the last 25 years for Saban?

The Tennessee Volunteers have been on a bit of a tear on the recruitment trail as of late. The Vols have landed 4-star wide receiver Travis Smith Jr and 4-star linebacker Christian Gass in just the last few weeks on the trail. The Vols have yet another target, 4-star safety LaGonza Hayward is set to make his college announcement Saturday, July 27th as well.

The Vols appear to be the leader at the moment for Hayward as well alongside South Carolina and Georgia. Though as Volunteer fans wait to see the announcement from Hayward, several current commits have alluded to a "surprise commitment" prior to the 27th potentially from Hayward.

I 🧡 surprise commitment

“I just went back and looked at everything. I thought about the different visits and I looked at what each school was about. Then I thought about where I would fit in best. The visits had me thinking, so it took me some time to figure it all out.”

The No. 100 prospect in the On3 Industry is ready to make his decision. He has put the work in, he has built relationships and he is planning to commit to one of three schools later this week.
“It all happened pretty fast,” Hayward said. “At first, I wanted to get out there in front of the right people and make a name for myself so I could get offers. That happened, then the process got a lot harder.

“The offers came in, I had a lot of choices and I had to make a tough decision. It has come down to Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. My decision to pick one of those will be about relationships and loyalty. Those things are very important to me.”

The Vols have On3’s No. 12 ranked recruiting class. Next up could be another Top100 prospect in Lyons (Ga.) Toombs County safety Lagonza Hayward. He commits this coming weekend and the On3 RPM favors the Vols including my forecast. Hayward left officials to Georgia and Florida riding high on both of those programs but the Vols got the last one the weekend of June 21 and the momentum has been back with the Checkered Orange since.

Hayward like Gass has the traits to be one of the best defensive players in the SEC.
