Delusional. Simply delusional.

The program Pruitt inherited isn’t in the same universe as the one Saban inherited.
It was close, Bama had 4 coaches 01-06 and had a losing record during that time. Imagine if Rodriguez didn’t back out? Bama fans should give his wife a Christmas card with money each year.

yeah, they were a dumpster fire, and their admin at the time was in as bad a shape, almost, as ours has been. they were fortunate also, that social media wans't a thing from the early aughts until Saban was hired, cause how that all went down, with Mike Price and Franchione gohsting them like he did...and how they were going to hire RR....they "fell" in to nick saban. people forget that it wasn't like he was their first/only choice.....yeah it was bad.

that said, they were a 10 win team and division winner just two years prior to Saban's arrival....so while the lead up was similar, i don't think the cupboard was as empty as it was when pruitt got here.

i do think our situation was way worse, just the whole circumstances by which pruitt got here would justify that stance.

but you're not wrong in saying that Bama had a run there for about 6 or 7 years where they were a complete dud as well.

Agreed. But I think the amount of transfers you can have each year to your program should be limited as well. Like you shouldn’t be able to have 10 guys transfer in. I’d put the number at like 5 transfers per school per year.
The issue is some coaches will start booting the same number of guys each year, then just take as many transfers as legally allowed. With more spots available at the best programs, I fear even more kids would want to transfer. It could be a snowball effect and make things even more chaotic.

I think keep things tight and this will deter more transferring if fewer spots are available.

Saban arrived at bama with just weeks to recruit and 6-6 season and closed in the top 10 in recruiting rankings followed by the number 1 class in the nation after a 7-6 season. I never said that they were in the same boat. I said it can be done and that some of the coaches aren't pulling their weight on the recruiting trail right now.
Saban was a NC head coach coming straight from the NFL to a weaker SEC. Not anywhere near the same.
I have no idea what coaches are doing and doubt you do either. This may be simply the best we can do under the circumstances, I'd go as far as likely.

Oh and Pruitt already pulled a better class than that top 5 Jones class. Quality is more important than quantity and the numbers aren't lying.

I’m sorry but this kid just doesn’t seem interested in being at Tennessee. Auburn? Yeah bye DA enjoy that crap hole and coaching change at the end of the season.

Lol. He's visited UT multiple times, possibly more than anywhere else except UGA.

But yeah, he's not interested in Tennessee.

Imagine what Saban or Dabo could do with this? straight up drafting players for them. let other schools figure out who the good players are and develop the projects. then Bama gets to take them whenever they have room.

Ahh... the calling card of the "true fan"...more excuses. Anybody can make excuses. Saban could have certainly made his. Every coach in the country was negatively recruiting him for failing miserably in the NFL and blatantly lying about taking the bama job on national TV....but he produced despite all of that. We can argue all day about who knows what, but the simple fact remains that UT is behind on the recruiting trail right now. I realize that anybody pointing that out gets a sunshine pumpers bowels all torn up but it's the truth....deal with it.

Agreed...it's a crying shame that our coaches had to accept a commitment from a 4* WR, that is 6'2, and runs a 4.3 40. What in the heck are they even doing over there.

Well, okay.

Maybe but I also think we could be at the top of his list if we look good on the field this fall. Same with many other recruits.

Exactly...we keep hearing interviews from highly ranked recruits, saying the UT coaches are telling them to enjoy the process, and wait and see how we improve on the field this year. Which would mean we have fewer commitments at present.

Strangely enough, a lot of these same highly ranked recruits keep pushing back commitment dates.

But yeah, according to some, we are in horrible shape in recruiting at the moment.

I don't think true, logical, well thought out arguments get "sunshine pumpers" all "torn up." But it's when you refuse to acknowledge that what Pruitt inherited and the situation UT is in and the rest of the SEC is in is NOTHING like what Saban or Smart inherited is when you lose people and make people question your sanity.

Well you pulled out the “bowels” card. 😏 As Charger stated, Saban had built a championship program at LSU a few short years earlier. Call that reality “excuses” if you need it for your narrative, but recruits had NO leap of faith to attempt to buy Saban. Pruitt’s had ONE season with a losing record...recruits need more to flock. This tentativeness is absolutely understandable. This team plays well and we’ll have flips AND commits from athletes waiting and seeing.

Has an official offer to UGA and that is what most think he is waiting on...
Is that a not official official offer?
