Your rite about keeping him off the field and with recruiting getting better and better we may see a few casualties of not playing such as Webb and others.jmo and of course it don't mean squat!!!Gonna be hard to keep this kid off the field as a freshman though. He was blocking, catching dreaded Copperhead slants, curls, screens.
Next season we have Squirrel and possibly Thornton coming back as starters. I say possibly Thornton because he has the most NFL potential of any of our receivers(physically). Nimrod or Webb are strong possibilities to be starters next year. Leacock is the only WR on campus right now to possibly challenge those guys for a starting position next Spring. We are recruiting some very talented WRs in this class, but they'll all have to learn the offense and get acclimated to the pace at which we play.Your rite about keeping him off the field and with recruiting getting better and better we may see a few casualties of not playing such as Webb and others.jmo and of course it don't mean squat!!!
Could get another stud out of the portal too.Next season we have Squirrel and possibly Thornton coming back as starters. That's possible, but the portal is a crap shoot. Especially with skill position players. A kid could be a total stud, but doesn't fit our culture whatsoever. There could be 3 or 4 big time guys at WR in the portal, but they all want major 7 figure NIL deals. History under this staff says we pass on all that.Could get another stud out of the portal too.
So Thornton has more potential than Bru? Bru was rated a 5* right? What was Thornton rated coming out of high school? Anyone know?Next season we have Squirrel and possibly Thornton coming back as starters. I say possibly Thornton because he has the most NFL potential of any of our receivers(physically). Thornton was a 4* coming out of high school. This is from a purely physical standpoint. Bru is 6'3" 220lbs and a match up nightmare due to his physicality, but he's viewed as more of a move the chains, possession receiver. Thornton is 6'5" 214lbs with elite speed and quickness. He can play inside or out. Think bigger version of Jameson Williams when he was at Alabama (physically). Of course, he has to produce, but he has 1st rd measurements and athleticism. Knowing now that Bru played injured most of last season, he may prove to be a capable deep threat this year. It's just not something he's shown so far in college. So Thornton has more potential than Bru? Bru was rated a 6* right? What was Thornton rated coming out of high school? Anyone know?
Thanks! I looked up Thornton. Remember Bru was a big deal coming out of high school because of all the drama. Excited to see them both have phenomenal success!Thornton was a 4* coming out of high school. This is from a purely physical standpoint. High school rankings don't determine how players develop in college, or what ever issues a player may encounter during their career. Saying that Thornton is a better pro prospect based on measurables isn't a knock on Bru. Quentin Johnston was 6'3 180lbs coming out of high school as a 4*WR. He put on nearly 30 pounds while at TCU becoming a first round pick.Tread lightly, Oda! Services star ratings science deniers make lists…
