I heard Heup say in one of his pressers something to the effect that he liked the WR screens early and often, in part, because it let Bru soften up the CBs by pummeling them repeatedly.I agree, if he can learn the nuances of the offense. His biggest advantage to seeing the field early may be his willingness as a blocker. The kid definitely likes to mix it up out there.
Webb, Nimrod, Leacock, at least1 transfer. Matthews isn't a guaranteed day 1 starter.
Webb looks exactly like a guy that’s in his second year. He’s not ready and only having to play because Bru got hurt and Thornton puts butter on his gloves instead of stickum.Webb has not looked that impressive so far. We’re losing Keyton. Thornton just needs to be shown the door. We’re going to be young at WR next year.
Matthews has a skill set that currently no receiver on our roster possesses. If Matthews isn’t ready to contribute on Day 1, I’ll have concerns about our player development. He shouldn’t need 1-2 years to learn. He has elite tools and needs to play the moment he gets here.
I'm just going to give the guy with experience going into year 3 the edge to start over a true freshman regardless of talent. Matthews could still see a start, I just don't think I would say day 1.Webb has not looked that impressive so far. We’re losing Keyton. Thornton just needs to be shown the door.
