'24 GA WR Mike Matthews (Tennessee)

disagree. agree about slot. he played safety in HS, and didnt come off the field. He's only 6'1" but had offers in bball also.

Maybe Velus Jones Jr comparison?
What do you disagree with? You agree that he’s a good fit for the slot. I’m not clear on the wording of your post.

Ohio St struggled at QB last season, they didn't have a veteran or even experience QB throwing the ball. Where as Nabors had a veteran, Heisman QB throwing to him. I guarantee if MHJR played for LSU, his numbers would have been insane. And like I said, I strongly dislike Ohio St and LSU is actually my 2nd team. Both are great WR's , but Harrison is very far from overrated. He jwas unfortunate to not have the pass offense that Nabors had. Ohio St threw for less than 270 a game, LSU almost 340 a game.. Both still averaged over a 190 yds a game. If I was an NFzl team, you couldn't go wrong with either. Plus, all I said was MHJR was far from overrated.
Exactly. I hate Ohio State, but folks trying to marginalize MHJ are just being petty. Throwing stats out there without considering anything else is obtuse. If he’s catching balls from Daniels this year, he could’ve had a 2000 yard season. He’s the best college WR in a long long time. Probably since Larry Fitzgerald.

A ton of people keep saying that and I don’t buy it. Compared to what? Strout? Heck, anyone compared to him would look bad.

McCord wasn’t some game changer, but the kid threw for 3,170 yards, 24 TDs to 6 INTs, with a completion % of 65.8%. Compare that to McCarthy, the national champion winning QB, who threw for only 2,991 yards, had 22 TDs to 4 INTs, and had a completion % of 72.3. But he threw for 332 attempts to McCord’s 348 attempts. No one is saying McCarthy is trash. In fact, he’s a 1st round pick according to some. Yet, his stats are comparable, if not worse, than McCord.

The McCord is trash narrative is being put out there by Buckeye homers to make Day’s decision of letting him go look positive.

if people really looked at Michigan’s style of play, they were more similar to the old Alabama teams. Great run game with an elite defense. Their passing game was just complementary. McCarthy was more of a game manager vs being a superstar QB.

At the end of the day they replaced him with a worse QB. From the start this situation felt similar to Clemson.

I also think what we are seeing with Day replacing Urban is a light version of what the next 4 years of Bama is.

Day just couldn’t get over the Michigan hump the last 3 years but he’s been in the title game and playoff picture. (Ironically lost to Bama in the ship)

I’ve seen MHJ play in person a few times and he’s 🤯. That’s with him on the field with other 5* receivers. He’s not overrated. Nabers is great, so good. But MHJ is best receiving prospect in 10 years.

And their fans want him gone and say he's ruined the program that Urban built.

Bama will be losing 2 to 3 games a year and not win a Natty and the will be ran out of town in more less than 4 years

Tennessee wide receiver signee Mike Matthews had one of the game’s biggest plays, beating the corner off the line and coming down with a pass over the middle from Dylan Raiola before streaking into the end zone for an emphatic touchdown. Matthews’ athleticism was readily apparent. He’s an explosive mover with long speed and vertical twitch. He had some inconsistent moments at the catch point throughout the game, but the big play ability is certainly there. -ON3

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Another five-star recruit headed to the SEC shined on the offensive side of the ball. Tennessee-bound wide receiver
Mike Matthews was consistently the top playmaker at the receiver position from start to finish. He had several highlight catches throughout the week, and he had one of the top plays of the game Friday as he took a pass from Dylan Raiola 40 yards for a Team Makai touchdown.

His athleticism was on full display throughout the week as he made some of the most acrobatic catches among a deep and talented receiver group at the event.

Fell from 28th to 40th in 247 rankings if you can believe it and 9th best wideout. Unreal.
I had to see it to believe it…these dudes make absolutely zero sense…they write multiple articles talking about how he shined against the best of the best at the UA and Polynesian bowls…and then they both proceed to drop him…one of them dropping him a star level…it’s just incredible…as in literally diminishes their credibility when they do that crap
