Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview five-star athlete
Mike Matthews
is debatably the most popular target left on the board.
He has also shown to be the most camouflaged.
Matthews (6-1, 180), ranked No. 7 overall, took official visits to Clemson, UGA, USC and Tennessee last month.
As we reiterated in last week's "Recruiting Big Board" series, Tennessee considers itself the frontrunner and has every reason to be considered a top-two consideration. USC feels it is on Tennessee's heels in a two-team race.
Meanwhile, we have cited intel that Clemson is squarely in contention.
Our tone was strong coming out of the Clemson official visit weekend.
Simply for how long this has gone without resolution, we would share that confidence levels logically aren't quite as high.
A decision has been anticipated this month.
But our update is mostly that nothing is coming out of the Matthews camp, and that is breeding increased uncertainty regarding Clemson's chances.
Doesn't mean anything definitely. There's no bad news, per se.
Just no good news on the Matthews front, either
