Travis Smith is more than comfortable at Tennessee with the staff, the offense, and the quarterback situation, but there is immense pressure to stay in the state of Georgia and play for the Bulldogs. With that said, it’s feeling like Smith and Georgia seem to be moving in different directions. Smith has connected with former five-star Mike Matthews during the recruiting process about his decision to leave the Peach State and it has helped him answer a lot of questions.
-VQJust last week, former Marietta (GA.) star RB and VFL Derrick Tinsley, who was coaching against Smith’s team in a 7v7, also gave him some words of encouragement about leaving the state, so he is hearing plenty about the Vols coming into the visit. In our estimation, that is what will be most important this weekend. Can Smith see himself being comfortable enough to walk away from the Bulldogs and catch passes on Rocky Top? Alabama has worked to make this interesting as well, and at this point we feel like the Tide is Tennessee’s biggest competition for Smith.
That’s great but with regards to the actual discussion high 4-5 star receivers see that and tend to go places where they get more attempts on the ball. They spread it around and don’t focus solely on one player. Shocking that a balanced offense doesn’t have a 1000 yard receiver….still managed to get Ladd and Bowers giant NFL contracts.
I really was hoping Bamas re ruining would drop off. But seems like it’s just fine.Alabama is the competition here. I believe we land Smith based on some things I was told but we shall see what the Bama pitch is.
Bama is a wild card in that there is a new offensive minded coach who has put a QB and several WR in the league recently. However, Bama staff doesn’t have the same connections in the south either with Gillespie and Roach being really the only two.
Smith has made really good relationships with current Tennessee players and commits.
