According to PFF-if he were on our team last year, he would be our highest rated player-not just at DB but overall. Graded out around 79. He was the only defender on his team above 75 in all categories: run defense,QB pressure tackling, coverage. Damn near a lock down, take one side away corner.

It should be 2/2, not 3/2, I think.

"Jeudy-Lally has 109 total tackles in his three years at Vanderbilt and BYU. He has eight pass breakups and two interceptions. He will have three years to play two seasons." per AP's paywall article on the commitment.

Solid pickup. Intercepted Shrout during the 2020 game. His interception is at the 8:50 mark

funny that half of his career ints are from us...then again half=1. His other pick came against Uconn in 2021. His 8PD's this season would have lead UT.. our top 2 guys had 6 each (Slaughter and Mcdonald).

His 7 passes defender would've been first on our team just ahead of Slaughter and McDonald with 6. He's got great size (6'2") Ave has played in the SEC. I'm very excited for him.

I believe that'll lock down one of the positions. Safety seems locked down as well with Walker, McCollough, and Turrentine (hopefully Charles gets moved back to safety as well), NB has McDonald and I would assume Slaughter might be moved back there. Then someone between Burrell, Hadden, Slaughter, Rucker, Turnage, or one of the freshman (Gibson, Matthews, Conyer) can lock down the other position. There's just an insane amount of talent and experience in the secondary, they just have to figure something out.
“An insane amount of talent” in the secondary? Really? How many 4 and 5 star recruits are in that group? Not many as I recall. We’ve beaten the coaching issue to death but I believe our issues come down to mostly a lack of talent. I hope Jeudy and the incoming freshmen solve some of that issue. It certainly can’t get any worse.

Maybe he thinks he’s good enough to play in the nfl and thinks the exposure will be good in sec?

No idea though. I do like the older high character guys being added to the lockerroom though. Defense didn’t seem to have a lot of leadership this past year. Leader that we did have was Banks who’s got questionable decision making at best.
To say our defense lacked leadership last year is roughly akin to saying the Sahara has a slight lack of moisture.

Talent and experience combination. All of the freshmen are certainly talented. Walker and Turnage are certainly talented (and experienced), Slaughter has been playing very well despite his lack of "talent" since he wasn't a 4 star. Jeudy is certainly talented and experienced. McCollough and Burrell have a ton of experience. McDonald has a good amount of experience now as well.
