At the very least, Matt Gaetz has been lying with his categorical denials on Twitter and Fox News. He clearly was paying for prostitutes. Whether you think that should be a big deal or not is up to each person, I guess. This is what he did:

In two late-night Venmo transactions (and Venmo is the mobile phone payment transfer service owned by PayPal) in May of 2018, Rep. Matt Gaetz sent his friend, the accused sex trafficker Joel Greenberg, $900. The next morning, over the course of eight minutes, Greenberg used the same app to send three young women varying sums of money. In total, the transactions amounted to the cumulative total of $900.

The memo field for the first of Gaetz's transactions was titled "Test." In the second, Rep. Gaetz wrote "hit up ___." But instead of a blank, Gaetz wrote a nickname for one of the young female recipients. When Greenberg then made his Venmo payments to these three young women, he described the money as being for "Tuition", "School," and "School".

Why don't you post it a third time? We can call it a strike out. Gaetz is not some untouchable or all-powerful political figure, and the investigation was initiated by the Department of Justice, which was under the leadership of Attorney General William Barr at the time. That makes this a tough sell as a politically partisan witch hunt. There is no way this little pi$$ ant keeps his seat. Do you see any senior members of the House or anyone in the Senate burning political capital to publicly defend him? No... and you won't. He won't be missed by anyone in Congress, including his own party.

We don’t hold Government officials accountable at that level. If we did it would kill both parties.

I agree in part.
But also feel that it sets a bad standard for the powerful people to not be as above the law so I remain in the “nothing is going to happen” category.
We’ll see.
