Gaffin with a fracture

Just for giggles.. thought I would show you what part of Melissa's shoulder therapy looked like after she had her shoulder surgeries and the UT training staff would scrape her shoulder and arm to generate blood flow.... this was to accelerate the healing so she could get back onto the field quicker... and they had her wear a neoprene vest which restricted her swing until they finally scrapped the vest and her production rose....

I remember the broken hand but I don't remember anything about the shoulder. When did that happen?

She tore the Labrum in her left shoulder twice (fall/winter )... played with the torn Labrum her Junior Season and had the first surgery the summer following Junior year... rehabbed it but was never fixed... tore the labrum again in the winter heading into her senior year... had the surgery to repair in Nov 2014 after she had completed her eligibility... Doctors told her she couldn't swing a bat for a year...

Pic below is from her Sophomore year when she had a severe bone bruise and a partially torn patella tendon in her left knee.

attached a picture that shows her neoprene vest she wore during her Junior season... the vest had a strap that would go around her chest to snuggly secure the vest so she had little movement in the shoulder... made it extremely difficult to swing and extend her arms

Is this correct?

Tore the labrum fall of 2012
Played with the torn labrum 2013
Shoulder surgery summer of 2013
Tore the labrum again winter 2014
Played with the torn labrum 2014
Broke her hand May 2014
Shoulder surgery Nov 2014

What a bunch tough breaks. I guess the reason I didn't remember the shoulder problems was she kept playing. What a tough kid.

Tore Patella Tendon with Bone Bruise sophomore season 2012
Tore the labrum fall of 2012
Played with the torn labrum 2013

Broke her hand last weekend of regular season 2013... had hand surgery... missed 3 weeks of SEC Tournament, Regionals and Super Regionals... made it to the WCWS and played... reached base 4 of 5 times against Rickets in championship game...

Shoulder surgery summer of 2013
Tore the labrum again winter 2014
Played with the torn labrum 2014
Shoulder surgery Nov 2014
Graduated Dec 2014

Yes that is correct

Right, the broken hand was her junior season, not her senior. Throw in the knee problem and man she must have been eating Ibuprofen!

Those are some unbelievable injuries she suffered. Ouch. I have no doubt in my mind now that if Melissa was free of all those injuries, she would have had at least one All-American season at UT. I personally know how tough it is to play with a nagging injury. She was tough as nails...
