Game Thread: (12/8) Lady Vols 53 - (1/1) South Carolina 67

If we had of played this hard all year, this would be just the 2nd lost of the season...

Possibly, although Florida might still have been a loss given the timing and the travel. With a healthy Green and Horston and the team playing as hard as they did today, we might have only one loss (including today). Lot of ifs in there.

We got the benefit of a few calls today, mostly on a few non-fouls and a travel or two. But most of those didn't make much difference with SC's deep bench. They had players to spare.

Also, the momentum-killing calls and the over-the-back second chance opportunities really hurt us much more than any bad calls hurt them.

Obviously, SC had much more talent. Not impressed with their offense, though. This game was won by recruiting, not game preparation or effort.

I have never seen so many whistles. Did anyone on our team ever get a chance to rebound and run to the basket? It doesn't seem like it. (This and the Tennessee chargers last night) I had to turn the sound down--got sick of Boston slurping.
Even the announcers was saying that they was calling sh_t every play and should let the teams play. Damn shame.

We played hard, we didn’t quit, we didn’t fold, we didn’t have bad body language, we do have more than one player who aren’t making layups.

I think the team just proved to themselves that they can win more games this season, and they made me proud to cheer them on.

GO LADY VOLS!!!

She needs help can`t hold the post by herself. To me SC MVP of the was So 6-7 Kamilla Cardoso she was big on giving Key nothing and keeping the ball alive.
Before the season ever started we needed additional post players and a better point guard. Those were not addressed during the off season evidently because Kellie was giving the players on the roster the opportunity. I hope she realizes this off season they are not the answer upgrade the post with Key back and scoring point guard and we'll be able to compete with anybody next season.

So lots of fight A+

Smarts B-
Guards D+, simply did not manage the game well, did not shoot smart or well (once again)
Key B- it was tough inside, but I thought she played hard.
Backups to Key F. Is there a lower grade I can give?

Puckett C- needed 6-8 pts from her today and smarter play, got 0 and spotty court presence
Rae B+ played hard, got some points, but at times early on she did the old Rae thing and at times her teammates ignored her (without her touching the ball).
Dye C played hard & had 11 RBs, doesn't know what the basket looks like as she rarely looks at it. 2 of 14 won't cut it.

Darby C played hard, too slow for this game Didn't try a three. Isn't that why she is out there?

Missed Marta, even if slow on D, maybe she gets 8 to 10 pts or some RBs and adds depth

60 to 38... before the game, I was worried that would be the final score
But it was the rebounding edge for SC. It's a strange world we live in.

Why shouldn’t she? Keep playing till the end and if anything the we’re running down the clock to not run up the score.
I agree I would have done the same. A lot of people talked about us leaving our starters in during the Ole Miss game with a 12 point lead. She left Boston, Henderson, Beal, and Cooke in until one minute left. I would've done the same with a 14 point lead.

You are 100% correct and for what it is KJH will have the fans looking over her shoulder saying we need to upgrade and upgrade now. We can`t just keep kicking the can down the road.

Great game. I think our guys did a great job today. SC prayers were answered because Horston would've scored 20 points easily. But, in all, thank God. I would not trade Kellie for anyone. This is a hard time for lady vols, and this time is when u really know true fans. Our situation now could happen to any team. When it happened to UCLA, they were gone gone. When it happened to Uconn, there case was different because they have about 6 to 7 stars players in there team.

Really proud of Tamari. To manage 10 blocks in a game called like this is wild. She made her presence felt. Double double for the big girl.
The announcers gave Boston all the praise and gave Tamari very little praise for the game she played, despite getting getting a double-double, with 10 points and 10 blocks. Proud of our big girl.
