Game Thread: #13/10 LSU (23-4, 10-3) @ Tennessee (16-9, 9-4 SEC) 2/25/24 12:00 pm EST ESPN

Kellie finally sees this as you see her future recruits our athletic ballers. Only question remains does Danny White care enough to pay money buy out and what it would cost to get right coach here. Who knows. In CHRIST Alone
I’m going to say no and thing is we had women’s basketball the only sport that was always consistent winning every year

In my opinion, Tennessee played as hard as they possibly could until the seven minute mark of the fourth quarter. Yes the first half was ugly. We only have one elite player and until a coach establishes roles ( obviously it's too late this season) for "role" players we will struggle. In the second quarter we went several possession without Jackson touching the ball. Unacceptable!

Spear is a very good fundamendal player but was never going to replace 6' 2" Horston, a very tall athelete with length. I think Spear was 1 of 11 today in shots. Brutal! Spear struggles when matched up with any one with length and size.

Powell is our best ball handler ( since Wells was lost for the season) but struggles terriblely with shot selection, decision making and role responsiblity. Wynn is limited offensively, and has a very lose handle which creates limited options for the coaching staff.

Key, for what every reason doesn't have the stamina, quickness, or skill set to catch and hold the ball. She works hard but is not a go to player in crunch time.

We simply do not have enough elite players to win these type games. We need an infusion of athletic players with size and quickness or I am afraid our current predicament want change.

Besides the LVs, what other top 25 team can you name, with our rich tradition and history, that needs a late season turnaround and luck to get into the tournament? When is the last time anyone would have thought that LVBB could, could I say, be a play-in team instead of the top 4 seeds nationally? If it has taken CKH this
long into the season to figure it out (and don’t forget her coaching decisions today), in season 5 no doubt, you’re borderline delusional if you truly believe she can win a natty here.

There's only one other team with our rich tradition and history.

With the right players, Kellie could win a national championship. Mulkey won one last year based upon recruiting and roster management, not game strategy.

It looks as though Kellie is lacking in all 3 areas you mentioned yet we should keep her. 🤣

I think she can win a championship if she puts an elite roster together, a coach is only as good as the players they have.

You know I struggle with this because I honestly believe with the right players Kellie can get us to where we want to go, but then I look at our offense and see nothing but 1 on 1 play and that just doesn’t win you championships these days.

I think she understands what the teams lacking by who she has coming in, the problem is we needed them while Rickea was here, now we may have the right supporting cast but we need that will need that elite star.

Just 11 turnovers. Rebounding almost even. We hold Reese, Morrow, and FJ to a combined 28 pts. An outstanding post D plan. How in the world do we lose this game? So frustrating. Just horrid shooting from start to finish, that's pretty much the story.

Poor JP. No one feels worse than her I know, except perhaps Jewel. We knew this would happen to JP at some point. She's been playing at the very top of her ceiling for a long time. Hate to hear people say she's selfish, doesn't care, whatever. She played very, very poorly today but no one plays harder. Last Sunday at this time Rickea was using her SEC network walk off interview to sing the praises of JP, how poised she stays etc. Yikes! Today not so much. Really took us out of any chance to complete the comeback. The big surprise to me was that she also couldn't guard freakin HVL. Who naturally had the game of her lifetime, will never shoot like that again.

Guess what? JP will be our starting pg the next game and the rest of the season. She's what we have. Not sure why Kaiya didn't play more but she didn't play very well when she was in and also couldn't guard HVL. I think JP just kind of paniced, plus as some have said, most of the shots she took were decent shoots. Except that quick 3 when we cut it to 1.

Poor Jewel. Got work to do to play against elite level teams. Honestly, when we're listing slowfooted players who can't guard? Count Jewel. I still think Jewel can be really good, but she needs a summer of intense training. And she can still be very good for us against certain teams this year.

Rickea shot poorly again, and once it was established we had no 3 pt presence, they just draped over her the fourth qtr. She had a good all round game, 9 rebs 2 asst and doubled her whole season block total w 2 blocks. The one on AR lifted my spirits, a little. We missed RJ in the post several times in the 4th after she had battled Morrow mightily for position. Thought RJ did a very good job on both Morrow and AR on D. Also sure RJ will be the first one to JP's side.

Sara is just so solid, had a very good game. We have to get her more shots, find her when she's open. Tess contributed, I didn't mind her minutes at all bc Jewel was giving nothing. Also thought Jill had good mins as did TK. AR struggled w TK's size. But dang TK's hands of stone . . .

I didn't think this was on KJH at all, except maybe leaving JP in too long but the game was already over. We plain and simple didn't hit shots. And didn't get Rickea enough shots. We have to go beat TAM.

A bit harsh on Mulkey, who has 4 NC’s on her resume. She can coach in game just fine according to the hardware.

Agree, more athletic players coming in. But we've done that before, Holly W excelled at it, but we end up overcorrecting and get athletic players who can't shoot. And that question has already come up about a few of our incoming. So hard to find players who are both, which is why their elite.

That’s why we need to address that in the portal, we need an elite wing that can score at every level, a Center and a few knock down shooters, if we get all of that I could see us contending.

agree with all of this. thought sara played very well, and i loved seeing her emotion because i worried about our mentality a bit. Tess also played well, and I would have played her more to be honest because she was giving us something. Really tough because JP has played near the top of her ceiling consistently all ceiling. I’m curious to see what TK and Jill could look like if they spend the summer training together.

I think some of yall watched a wildly different game than I did. I don’t think our problems were with our post players. Key had ten points, and Reese only had eleven. We were marginally out rebounded, but that’s like low on the list of problems from this game.
Those who constantly hammer Jon and Joy and the post coaching can step off. They had a very good game plan against Reese and Morrow and all the posts played well. TK's size really bothered AR esp w her limited offense.

I think KJH could do it with an elite roster and a new assistant coach who specializes in designing offenses.
