Game thread: #15/13 Lady Vols at Florida. Sunday, Feb. 23, 1pm ET, SECN

I get your point. But I wouldn’t put a cap on a player entering college as a McDonald’s AA or Top 50 recruit.
We don’t know what these freshmen will need but until you watch the film and see it from an unbiased perspective saying they need to get their feet wet is not credible.
These players have the potential to play from Day 1.
Spencer and Spear have only played 1 and 2 seasons at Tennessee. They had to go through adjustments just as the freshmen will so that’s expected.
Neither player arrived at Tennessee from Arkansas and Wake Forest having been part of a successful team that was highly ranked during their career.
It’s safe to say that this is the best team either Spencer or Spear has played on and yes they’re a big part of the success although chances are high that next season’s team could be better.
That’s not a knock or taking credit away from either player but if you factor in the coaches, players, and recruiting class you come away with a very strong roster.
This has to be the parent/family of one of the incoming freshman. Always seems to mention the TOP recruiting class. For now the focus is on THIS YR!

You need to focus on what you post and leave it at that.
I don’t have to be the parent of anyone to have common sense I didn’t evaluate/rank not a single player.
The fact some of you go to the extreme to avoid stating the obvious speaks volume.
247sports ranks the class #1/ ESPN ranks the class #2.
It’s a top recruiting class.
Does that bother you?

I figured it out! It's fine!

Oh stop it! In her 14 minutes, Sara made a big 3pt shot and few timely and important plays via rebounding and defense. Her role has been greatly reduced, as a senior no less, but she is doing a splendid job of being ready when needed. She is a team first player and deserves no criticism about her attitude.

Agree…. One observation at the end of the game, ( last few minutes)… coach had the best defensive players in the game ! That included Boyd ( a Freshman). Winning is not about seniority!
Adjusting to the game at different times calls for different strategies…. I think our coach makes good game adjustments (game within the game ) her predecessor’s were less capable of doing this . JMO

Well said!

I just took it as long as I could on all the boards. The most frustrating thing about the darker side is that they take exception to adverse reactions to their and their like minded buddies snarky shots at fact sets that usually speak for themselves and DO NOT require embellishment. Individual shortcomings are bad enough, when there are enough to collectively yield a loss it is the pits.

Identifying the facts with the purpose of improvement is of course fine. When there is no value add, other than emotional release for the poster, en mass it makes bad things worse. I only hope shining a light on the practice reduces the number of times the post reply button is hit. Might, might not, but it is all I got.

The biggest offenders are the ones that think ANY such response is sunshine pumping. They are not honest enough to acknowledge that there is a huge gulf of rational positions between the the two groups on each extreme.

No. 15/13 Lady Vols (20-6, 7-6 SEC) play the first of two straight road games when they travel to Gainesville to meet Florida (14-13, 5-8 SEC) at Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

Tennessee has won its last three games and five of its past six, defeating No. 5/5 UConn and No. 18/19 Alabama during that stretch and dropping a narrow road decision to No. 6/4 LSU. Kim Caldwell's squad finds itself in eighth place in the SEC standings with an opportunity to climb as high as fourth or fifth if it wins out and gets some help.

Florida has won its past two games and three of its past five, knocking off Mississippi State, 69-66, last Sunday and crushing Texas A&M in College Station, 74-52, on Thursday night to get back over .500. Leading the Gators are four players averaging double figures in points, including freshman guard Liv McGill (16.5 ppg.), senior center Ra Shaya Kyle (14.9 ppg., 9.0 rpg.), senior guard Jeriah Warren (12.1 ppg.) and sophomore guard Laila Reynolds (10.6 ppg.).

This is actually a good game for us. We learned that we can win when we don’t have our best stuff.
A very good lesson for the future.
I also like that we got this out of our system before we play KY.
Finally, I thought it was interesting we changed our starting five putting Tess in there. Before anyone jumps in here I know we don’t have “starters” per se. I guess let’s say I noticed Tess was in the first wave today which was a change. It seemed that the waves had become fairly set recently.
I get melancholy every year about now as I realize our time with some of these wonderful young ladies is drawing to a close. Too sentimental I guess.
