Game thread: #15 Lady Vols host Ole Miss, Sun., Feb 16, Noon ET. SECN

Yeah when/if KC can get Cooper to stop trying to dribble so much she could really be a force.

11 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 steals today but 8 freaking turnovers and most were just her refusal to pass and try to dribble through doubles.

Spear was on fire, 9 of 11 and 5 of 7 from deep for 28 points with 5 of 6 at the free throw line.

Really love watching these Lady Vols, Kim has immediately turned them into a team you have to take serious because they're always going to compete and play hard. Bring future, can't wait to see what we look like after 2 or 3 full HS recruiting classes and a roster of Lady Vols with at least a year or 2 playing for Kim under their belt.

This^ the officials controlled the flow of the game with them un-professionally doing their job. This was a big assist to OM; we got the win.
I just wish the SEC would use some of their millions to hire full time refs that have to go to classes and do conditioning thru the week. Watch film and go over prior game film what they do well and what they can do better to hone their craft. Going to AAU games and picking up these drive by refs is detrimental to the game.
One of the poorest first half of officiating I have seen. Second was a little more even, but still I think the two men Refs need to be back in Officiating school.

Coach has lots of film to point these things out. Just how good can we be IF.
Good point. This is a good game for film-time lesson learning for both players AND staff. If we're lucky, watching it again on replay in a non-gametime situation may show Kim that maybe she left Coop in too long after she lost all focus. Maybe she wasn't absorbing just how off Coop was, and hoping she'd play through it, but film may teach her that maybe next time there has to be a better way to handle that than just leaving her in there to flounder.

Boyd will be a spark plug next year. Nice win without no home cooking . A win we really needed. We are ready to go in the SEC now. As always go Lady Vol’s.

She and Kaiya are going to be a problem. I think Wynn suits Kim’s style to a tee. I was so excited to see her this season. Hoping she comes back fully recovered and on fire. Our Speed will be even better next season with Boyd, Wynn, Whitehorn, Cooper, Mia, Mya, Civil and Prawl.

Coop is a yes and no player. Yes sometimes and no why did you do that other times.

UConn has exposed SC on the glass. This is no fluke. We outrebounded them by quite a bit too, just didn’t make shots.

They are not nearly as good at rebounding as they’ve been the last few years.
I said this a couple weeks ago. In that first game with Texas they got dominated on the boards, but Texas could not make a shot. They finally ran into a bad shooting game today and rebounding is more noticable.

Coach Kim not getting any calls her first year. She will have to earn whistle over time.
No excuse for some of the brain dead calls we saw today. Even the reviews took too long trying to convince themselves they had it right. Black Lady ref really tried to make it hard on the Lady VOLS 😉

Kim can definitely point to this. Look Coop you are so valuable to our team success both offense and defense. I'm leaving you on the floor in hopes you will learn and grow your game because there is so much more out there. Now saying that you have to do it no excuses just do it.

Cooper is a high risk high reward player. She makes a lot of great plays. Hopefully more for your team than the other team.

I can understand some of the frustration people have with decisions she makes - to a point - but only to a point. After that, I don't get it at all. Tennessee would not be where it is today without her play this year. You certainly wouldn't have won the UConn game without her. And that's not the only game she's impacted. I think Tennessee is wise to take the good with the sometimes not-as-good, and work with her to improve her game as she matures.

Coop is a yes and no player. Yes sometimes and no why did you do that other times.

She’s so athletic, when it clicks for her, and I think it will, she is going to be great.

Needs to be a more willing passer and she would immediately start scoring more and turning it over less. Teams know shes not looking to pass and they are sending the double.

Could have some great give and go action with her as well.

You may be right but her body language tells another story, plus who says she stays?

Why even speculate?
This is really silly to even focus on at this point in the season.
I don’t get the point in thinking negative about a team, player, or coach every single game.
It won’t make or break anything either way.

Good win against a good team .....
Sure, if you want, and I understand. But no reason for you to go out of your way to literally call it "not great." That was my point. I apologize if I sounded harsh.

Anyway, it's great to be a Tennessee Vol! LVs win a big game with big tournament implications! 🍊
