Game Thread: (20/22) Lady Vols vs. Florida

It was a sh*t show today with not too many bright spots we have been horrible on defense and offense the past two games. I’m happy about the win, but man they’ve been determined give these games away.

I'm going to go back & watch this game sometime to get the full picture of what went on.

Our post play was great today. Horston with no to I believe. Alot of good can be taken away from this game. You are right we do need to play better but these are games we would have lost in years past.

What a fun game! So many solid teams in the SEC this yr, so many good young players. I don't think we were just making Briggs look good, she is just good. She was harder to guard than Howard.

Our post game ya'll. Anyone still mad at John Harper? Remember player development? Welcome to Key's Triple Double Block Party. How bout the one where she swatted the shot, leapt out of bounds and saved the ball back into play. Safe to say the proverbial switch has been flipped. Hallelujah!

How bout Kasi? 8 pts 12 reb and 4 assists! She has become the contributor in SEC play that many of us thought would never, ever happen. Did you see how hard she was working today? Beat everyone down the floor on a break! Our posts have entered the zone of awesome, who would have thought it? What if they keep playing like this? What if one of them actually starts to jump?

Ended up w 13 t.o.s, 4 of them courtesy of Rae. Notably, JH did not have any. I thought PG play was pretty solid as far as getting into an offense and moving the ball. Unfortunately PG as a group is still shooting miserably, though Walker had a couple of nice 3s. Some very beautiful interior passing. I hope JH finds her shot soon, like in the next 4 games.

Overall, so nice to hold off rallying opponents and respond so solidly. This team has so many pieces, players just have to chip in a few key plays then there's someone else to take over. KJH is doing a really nice job weaving the pieces together.

Where are all those people that wanted him fired after the first few games. Pure stupid. These post players are coming along nicely.

I was very critical of him in early season because I could see no evidence of any improvement in the post players......never said anything about firing him .His coaching has shown up in the last two weeks and I am really happy for both him and our post players .Also glad to see the rest of the team getting them the ball more ...that has also helped improve the whole team's game.

As was obvious Key had the game of her life and if she can play the rest of season like she did today this team can play late in March.Do not know how far they can go because they are inconsistent as all get out as a team ....could be eliminated in the 1st game or go to Elite 8.Will be looking just how much improvement they can make as a team between now and March .They go on the road for their next three games vs Miss State,Texas A&M,And Kentucky ....all will be tough games .....

Shekinna Stricklen had a couple triple doubles. I think the stat I mentioned earlier was specifically in SEC play.

It was disappointing that we couldn't build a big lead and rest some legs in addition to getting some valuable minutes for Jess, Emily, and Tess.

I saw Rae working out her ankle toward the front end of the fourth quarter. Some type of device to rock here toes forward then back toward the heel.

Rennia played the last 5 minutes of the game ! She got after Briggs on defense to finally stop her from scoring. Of course she already had 20 plus ? But why not play the rest of the game like that ?

I actually think that was working out her calf muscles. I was watching that too. She has had trouble with calf cramps toward the end of games all seasons.

First thing I would ask Horston if I were coach is why don't you play the entire game like you play the fourth quarter. She plays under control makes the right passes and runs the team well. The start of the game is totally different.

Probably the same reason I snap hook my drive on the first couple of holes. Just so excited to be playing!!!!!!!!! She will grow out of that. No such hope for me.

My worry is these bad habits we are seeing is going to rear it’s ugly head in the most unfortunate way for us like always.
