Game Thread: (20/22) Lady Vols vs. Florida

Sorry Jordan's hurting, hope she bounces back soon. I know backs can be nagging. Tired legs and nagging injuries catch up this time of the season. They will make the next crucial stretch even more challenging. Hate that A & M got squeezed in this gaunlet too, but it makes sense schedule wise.

I want Rae to fall less. Hit the floor under 3 times per game. She already battles cramps, don't need bruises and burns. Also, the falls are usually the result of a forcey Rae play, which we always want to see less of. I was thinking during the game today, whatever aggression Rennia lacks, Rae has aplenty. She literally launches herself headlong toward the basket. Still sometimes struggles to smooth the edges of the aggressive instinct. Smooth Rae sure is good though!

lol nvm Jordan took the celebrating to the lockerroom

Tickled to death it all came together for Tamari! It was overdue and ecstatic it happened. Also happy her coach who has taken a lot of hits here on VN kept up the pace and has seen his hard work pay off for Tamari as well. This is a great story.

Really didn't like the way we played most of the game but that last timeout really helped. Davis really put the defense on their best scorer when you re watch it you will see that she was really all over the girl the last five minutes and nothing was getting past Key today.

56-16 points in the paint. That was Tamari on both ends. Great game for her.

injuries are coming up at the worst time......and how long is Marta out???

Fingers crossed she’s able to go Thursday. If she’s feeling good we’re a much tougher team. I’m not sure Kasi will be able to guard the 4 players for MSST. Florida was running her all over defensively and she was barely keeping up. Fortunately they didn’t hit many 3s outside of Briggs.

Seems like it would be relatively minor if she was going to try and go before Ole Miss. 🤞🏼

Debbie Downer has arrived.

Well, the OP has point. if you take away, the double digit win, Key's historic triple double, a 20 point great all round effort from Rae, a great game from KK (maybe her best of the season) and another solid all round game from Davis, and clutch court management and 3 pt shooting from Walker, really what do you have?

Man it’s sorta quiet around here when they win😂

their play was inconsistent but i will admit it was impressive to have a team that was playing with confidence and just shut them down to give yourself a 14 point win.

I think the WVU and GA losses taught our girls something...

Also how about WVU so much for them being a middle of the pack team at best 🤔

Probably the same reason I snap hook my drive on the first couple of holes. Just so excited to be playing!!!!!!!!! She will grow out of that. No such hope for me.

Weaken your grip and take the club back parallel to your aim line until you find your rhythm

Wanted to go back to the foul on Tamari at 8:21 of the 4th quarter again. That foul is absolute BS. Just watched it over a few times. Rainey, a 5’10” guard cannot guard Tamari Key. So instead she doesn’t even attempt to do so, just sets up for the charge and as soon as Tamari made contact to post up she flung herself to the ground. Never made any attempt to guard her. If I’m the official I’m shaking my head and telling you to get up.

The officials have got to stop going for this. It’s not a foul and it rewards poor defense and poor strategy. At that time Florida had 6’4” Dut in the game and she was slow getting back so that’s why Rainey picked her up. Tamari is allowed to post up there. Contact is expected. Just because Rainey is a mouse in the house doesn’t make it a foul. Boston has gotten tagged with a bunch of these fouls as well. Really poor. If you don’t have a big girl who can get back and matchup that’s on you. Stop punishing the post players for the opposing teams poor defense.

Amber Ramirez also fouled out Edwards against UCONN doing this. Smart basketball play, but again one I don’t agree with. Had a very big impact on the end of that game as well. If the post player is just getting position to me that’s not a foul. If you’re between her and the basket she’s well within her right to create contact and move you. Especially if their back is to the basket. If the player doesn’t have the ball, isn’t facing the defense and is just moving into position that’s a no call at best. More than anything I think that defender should be forced to play defense. You wanna pick up the big girl? Fine, but now you have to guard her.

They have a flopping rule in the men's game saw it called against an opponent of Tennessee in a game this season. The problem is it is such a judgement call hard to tell in real time so it would have to be reviewed on the monitor and further slow down the game. I wouldn't mind coaches having a couple of challenges a game for a flop review. I thought they missed a call big time in the LSU Ole Miss game yesterday when the LSU big center was called for a charge and the player for Ole Miss was not out of the circle.

Body oil for the haters. A natural fit.

What if it gets in their mouth?

Which is kinda sad when you think of it. More posters complaining rather than praising. Not a good sign.

After the loss, the board is flooded by drive by posters who only show up after a loss. I suspect most are folks who don't like women sports or want to complain about all the behaviors that haters love to complain about. Losses provide their justification for an anger-gasm.
