Game Thread: (23/24) Lady Vols 69 - Colorado 51

If Coach Harper can’t put together the pieces on this roster to get to the Elite 8 then there has to be accountability.
Karoline Striplin and Julian Hollingshead outplayed Tamari Key and Jasmine Franklin tonight. Reward the younger players. Darby started and went 0-1.
What will Coach Harper come up with Sunday? This isn’t a rebuilding year. The time is the year!

But also maybe if you're going to get to the free throw line this often, please work on your free throw shooting.
A lot of our team players need to work on free throws. Walker being a point guard, there is no reason why she shouldn’t be better than she is. She has always had a low percentage.

I agree. I’ve been saying this for a while, Karoline Striplin is a tough player. I don’t understand why she isn’t getting more playing time.

Really wanna know why BK is so hesitant to shoot?
She’s pretty small compared to all the players, so most of her shots, if she shoots, is a thrown up shot for dear life, in fear of getting blocked. If she is left wide open, it’s not likely she will even test it.

Hitting shots makes up for so many other things. We shot miserably fm 3 pt, mediocre on free throws, and had way too many turnovers. But Horston and Jackson were a combined 18-25 and we shot 48% fm the field. And never trailed.

I don't care that Colorado wasn't very good. Our energy, intensity, and execution was so much better, especially the first half. And Horston and Jackson at full potential is so fun to watch.

It was all about us this game. The ones that start are beginning to create team identity. The subs are still a little helter-skelter because they are playing for future minutes so they are stressing some.

The coach says in-game play will decide the starting lineup and rotations but it seems predetermined to me.
Darby, Walker, or Tamari Key haven’t been very productive to start this season.
Darby had one okay game and that was in a loss to Indiana.
Jordan Walker is struggling on both ends of the court.
Miles deserves early minutes and to be the first PG off the bench.
I want to see Tamari turn her season around and she’s still capable of being a force in the paint.
In the end, I expect T.Key to be a factor. But she’s never played with a power forward as good as Rickea Jackson and I think it has affected her game.. Tamari is use to being the main option in the post.
Rickea is too good for the offense to not run through her on the block and right now Key is just not adjusting to it.

Kellie said they "script" minutes for the players and that sometimes leads to unique lineups. She will shorten her bench when she feels everyone has had the minutes to show what they bring now.

Anybody who isn’t a puppet knows that is irrelevant when a proclaimed specialist is not contributing... Tennessee best players right now are
1. Jackson/Horston
3. Powell
4. Franklin
5. Marta
6. Hollingshead/Puckett
8. Miles
9. Striplin

If they aren’t playing the most minutes it’s a joke. Stop showing how ignorant you truly are @LadyVol1908.

Striplin had 3 blocks, a steal, an assist and a rebound in small minutes

Imagine if she actually was put in the game before late in the 2nd half. Let the player develop. She’s shown that she is a team player. She has stayed ready. No reason whatsoever players that haven’t contributed all year are locked in the rotation while young talents like Striplin, Puckett, and Hollingshead aren’t playing much consistently. That’s backwards.

It’s not about whether she’s contributing or not. Her presence on the floor opens up so many other facets of the game for other scorers….driving lanes, post play, with Darby in the game, you can’t help off because she’s a KNOWN 3 point threat….common sense!
